Yes, they are just East, I believe, of Hopewell in Hunterdon County.

I don't have any info on PEGG but I do have quite a bit of info concerning
ROBINS & THARP (much of which was supplied to me by other researchers).
The oldest ROBINS/THARP marriage I have follows. If you (or anyone) would
like further info about the children or parents let me know.

The Crow name that Kathi Roff mentions is also known as Jeremiah Cray.
There were many with the family name of Cray in the Sourlands, as well
as Hopewell and on into the Lambertville area. My ggrandmother was Phebe

Jr. b.1802 and Adeline/Letty/Allie Unknown/Hegeman (3 different census
spellings-unknown if any are same or Hegeman), granddaughter of John

Hi Roz,
As I am a Durling descendent I have almost the whole
Dorlandt/Dorland/Darland/Durland/Durling line in my files. The name was
originally Dorlandt. Two cousins came here in the 1600's--Jan Gerretse
Dorlandt in 1652, and Lambert Janse Dorlandt in April 1663 on the ship
"De Bonte Koe" (the Spotted Cow). Both came from Holland and are
descendents of Gerard Splinter Van Ruwiel b. 1298 in Kortenhoef,

Hi Jackie,
Thanks for the additional info! I had not known that "Shannock" and
"Neshanic" were one in the same...that makes things easier...
The info I have on DORLAND is taken entirely from the internet, not from my
own research, to include the relationship between Philip and Abraham
DORLAND. Abraham was married to Sally BROWN who was (apparently) the sister
of Mary (Polly), wife of Philip.
The CROW family has been very difficult to crack. One reason for my
continued interest in this family, other
Hi Jackie,
Thanks for this info on CROW/CRAY. I don't know if we connect or not...I
simply have been trying to find out more information on a "Jeremiah CROW"
for the past several years and I stumbled upon Kathi ROFF's old post.
There was a Johan Wilhelm BOLLESFELDT (William BELLIS) (bp. 1713 in
Nordhofen GERMANY; d. after 1771 in Somerset Co NJ) who lived near Ten Mile
Run. He married Anna Catharina KEMPEL in the Reformed Dutch Church, NY, in
1743. They apparently had four children:

Is anyone here familar with a Jane ROBINS who married Amos SUTTON or an
Elizabeth ROBINS who married Nathan SUTTON ?
Both couples would have been married before 1803, and probably living in
Hunterdon County, possibly Amwell Township.

With all this talk of Robins/Robbins, perhaps someone knows the first name
or anything else of the Robins (b about 1721 and d before 1765 in Amwell Twp).
This Robins married Ellen Abbott about 1753. She was the daughter of James
Abbott and Catherine Brown. Ellen was apparently born in Long Island, but
she and her family moved to Hunterdon County about 1743. Thanks,

The Sourlands are actually in Hunterdon, Mercer and Somerset Counties. They go from Lambertville in the west all the way through Montgomery Twp (where I am) and into Hillsborough Twp on the east side. Hunterdon and Somerset Counties each have a Preserve for walking and hiking.
There are wonderful old stories and legends pertaining to the Sourlands, including stories about runaway slaves living there as well as renegarde Indians (okay, Native Americans) and Hessian soldiers.
A good reference for this
In Marriage Records of Hunterdon County, New Jersey 1795-1875 by Hiram E.
Deats, there is a marriage by Nathan Sutton to a Catherine Lake on 29 May
1819. Could this be a second marriage or perhaps a son's marriage. Marilyn

The Sourland Mountains are more like big hills....I go over them several
times a month on my way home to Lambertville via Hopewell. Heading west on
Route 518, you take a hard right at the center light in Hopewell and travel
northwest over the Sourlands toward Ringoes which lies in the valley on the
other side. It's a very pretty ride, in every season.
Have you tried to find the Roff's phone number using Yahoo's "People

Hello,
It's been a long time since I have posted to either list, so I'll try again to get over one of my stumbling blocks. I am trying to find the birth records of the children of John Middleswarth, in the years and counties above. In particular, Ner B. Middleswarth, b. 12/12/1783.
His birth record is for Jan Van Middleswaert, to Abraham and Matte, at First Reformed Church of Raritan, Somerset Co, NJ on 4/12/1745.
John Middleswarth, along with his father, Abraham, was listed as a member during the formati
