Jane,
Thank you for your explanation and the info on the indexes. So for the
properties with multiple names and dates, could mean he referenced mutiple
deeds for that particular property and therefore it demonstrates progression
of ownership? (see the second example I gave for "lot 54") I wonder what
the numbers in paratheses indicate ?
Thank you again. Have a great weekend.

Dr. Sutphen - for he was made a Littl. D. by Rutgers College a few years ago - was born near Millstone in 1854, and was the son of Ralph Terhune Sutphen and Sarah French, both of whom are deceased. He graduated at Rutgers in the class of 1875, and late

Hi Kathie,
I have a file on this family unit, and will be happy to share. Give me a
half day to dig everything up and I will get back to you. I can tell you now
that Catharine's parents were Cornelius Williamson (1771-1835) and Sarah
Hoppock (1779-1813), who were married 23 Feb 1803, in Hunterdon County, NJ.
Cornelius and Sarah had six children that I know of, Catharine being the
oldest. Catharine died 03 Dec 1891, in Delaware Twp., Hunterdon County, and
her husband, John Buchanan, died 05 Aug 1890,

They are also available in the New Jersey State Archives. In a listing
published in the autumn of 2003 and listed as "Genealogical Resources at the

Eleanor, I have seen the Amos Thatcher and assumed that he was part of my Thatcher family but have been unable to prove it. Do you have siblings for him? If he is buried there in Hunterdon County, perhaps the cemetery has records that would reveal family names. If you live in NJ, are you aware of any other sources that might lead me to my ancestor?
Thanks for your help,
