I am a newcomer to this list and wondered if there has been previous
correspondence on the Huff / Hoff family which is well documented in Hunterdon
county's vital records. Has anyone ever organized a basic genealogy of the
family for Colonial times?

Greetings,
Can anyone tell me which county Schooley's Mt. is in? Is it a chain of
mountains or is it one mountain. On my map it appears it is on the boundary
between Morris Co. and Hunterdon Co. The ancestors I am looking for are a
John HOUGH, who supposedly settled in the Schooley's Mt. area around 1740, his
son, John HOUGH, Jr., born around 1740 and his wife Elizabeth HUNT HOUGH, born

I'm trying to establish with some degree of certainty a link between Catherine

and the Catherine Lyon daughter of Charles Lyon (1786-1825) and Ann Ruloffsen

Catherine was the third of wife of Morris, they were married when she was
about 30. She may have had a first husband with the surname of Lawrence. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Brothers Zacharias and Johan Wilhelm Ahlbach arrived in Philadelphia in 1734
via the ship Hope. The ship's registry lists several children and their

brothers first settled in Hunterdon County, NJ. Zacharias eventually moved
onto Frederick Co., MD. It appears that the descendents of Zacharias in MD
took on the name Albaugh and the NJ descendents of Zacharias and Johan became
Alpaugh after using Alpock for a while. Both brother

Looking for info on WILLIAM DOUGLAS WEBB, born in New Hampton, New Jersey,
Hunterdon County (Lebanon Township) in 1818. He left at age 16 to work on what
may have been a clipper ship, and debarked several years later in Alabama,
where he eventually settled. The only thing I know about him is that his
mother may have been a "Blackhawk" Indian - but the story is that she came
from Canada, and to my knowledge, the Blackfeet are a Plains tribe. Does

The area called Schooley's Mountain is in Washington Township, Morris
County. If you are looking at a map, it is on Rte 24 between Chester
and Hackettstown and is also referred to as Long Valley. There is a
county park there that is also called Schooley Mountain Park.
