Hello Sharon,
Do you know if this book is still available and where to get it? It sounds
like interesting reading and most likely my ancestors are in it.
We had some good friends in Buffalo NY by the name of Dalrymple. It's
interesting to see friends' surname come up on the list.

Hi Group,
I am planning a trip to NJ, in September. I will be researching the time
frame 1650 - 1816. I would like to develop a research list of documents,
books and other records that cover the time frames above. If you could
send me the name and location of any resource you have used it would enhance
my chances of locating some very elusive "Housel / Housell" family members.
I would appreciate it if you could contact me via the list or privately.
I will send anyone the list that I compile, it

I am looking for info on William A. Yorks. Mostly who were his parents? He was born in Readington, NJ in 1749. His parents my have spelled their name "Jurcks".
William married Elizabeth Allegar and had at least 9 children.
Most (those born before 1790) were born in Hunterdon County:

I was just wondering if the Rev war pension claims were listed based on the
county in which the claimant resided during the Rev. or where the claimant

Hi Rachel,
There is a film available through a local family history center titled,
"Damages in Hunterdon County during the Revolution". Any one who had
lost farms, businesses, cows etc could file a claim of damages and ask
for compensation. I don't have the film number handy, but have looked
at it a few years ago and found it interesting.

There is a cemetery in Clover Hill (on Rainbow Hill Rd), in Montgomery Twp,
Somerset Co,
which is on the border of East Amwell, Hunterdon Co.
There are also two small cemeteries just west of the intersection of

I am wondering if there is anyone living nearby, or planning a visit
there soon, who could see
if some of my Lake ancestors are buried in these places.
I usually dont ask for look ups, since I do most of my own research by

> Sharon,
Thank you for the article. I am a descendant of the Hunterdon Co. Dalrymple's.
There are many references to the family descending from the Third Earl of Stair.
However, from the research I have done, as well as other researchers, the Third
Earl of Stair never married and died without issue. At least issue that we know
about. I understand there is a new Baron book out dedicated to the illegitimate
children of royalty.
I just want to let everyone know that I'm moving my
web pages from geocities to rootsweb. The new URL is
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~birdnj . It contains
an updated version of my files, mainly data on anyone
named BIRD or BURD in New Jersey and a lot of
colateral lines.

Hello again,
In a probably vain attempt to get further with my Smith line, I wonder if
anyone knows of a prominent (or otherwise) man in Hunterdon County in the
1820's or 1830's whose first name was Nathan and whose last name began
with a D.?
My gggrandfather was named Nathan D. Smith and lived in the Bethlehem Twp
area, later at the end of the century, in Frenchtown.
Also, I uncovered a number of men named Smith in the 1860 census for
Union (formerly Bethlehem?) Twp who were listed as "shoemakers". Can

If you mean you have an 1880 census for Georgia, Walton, Newton and
Gwinett counties with the surname BEAM, I would appreciate anything you can
do to help me. My BEAM line was in those 3 counties during this time
period. Thanks

Not sure if this is a solid lead or not but the surnames in #4-#9 (Yorks, Hess, Kline,) were early settlers in Columbia Co., PA. They are known to have moved to
Columbia Co. from Hunterdon.
