1. [NJHUNTER] BODINE Family [1]
The following monumental inscription was taken from the graveyard of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church (known locally as "Grandin Church") at Union Township. It was done for a fellow researcher, but I thought I should share with this list. Is anyone else researching this branch of the BODINE family? The interesting thing about the headstone is that it very large, with lots of names. Here they are: (Front of Stone) PARENTS Peter Bodine, b. 04-22-1801 - d. 03-23-1866 Susan LeFoy, His Wife, b. 11-28-1807

8. [NJHUNTER] Access to NJ Vital Records [1]
Fellow Researchers, Since my original posting, I have done some research on the topic of public records. I found that the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) is a Federal Law, not applicable at the State level. As I understand it, New Jersey is an "open records" State. Vital records of birth, marriage and death are considered public record. Individuals have a legal right to this information under the New Jersey Right To Know Law - Title 47. The only thing confidential about the vital records is the cause

Hi Marilyn, This just might be a garbled version of LAWSHE, pronounced in two syllables (I once had a wonderful conversation in a Hunterdon Co. cemetery with a lady looking for this name) which as you know is a name quite common in the area.
