4. [NJHUNTER] Burial Transcript [1]
To all, I tried to send personal thank yous to those that answered my question about Burial Transcripts, but most 'bounced back'. As much as I dislike thanking all via a mailing list rather then in a personal manner - I have to resort to this. THANK YOU to all. The information has been most helpful & I believe it will knock down some of the "brick wall". It has opened some new avenues to search that I was not aware of. I had an inquiry for more information which I did send (& it went through!!),
5. Re: [NJHUNTER] Location of Raven Rock [1]
Dan, Raven Rock is a tiny place near Stockton, NJ, close to the Delaware River. My grandmother is buried near there in Rosemont Cemetery. My uncle once lived on Raven Rock Road. Is there more info you need? Hi Mary Jo, We had this posted a few months ago. I know a family here in Alexandria Township who are descended from this couple, but the sender of the message was contacted and had already donated the items to the Hunterdon County Historical Society. She waited about six months before donating it. Pam Bush ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary Jo C. 7. [NJHUNTER] New Germantown's Wooley and Phillips [1]
Hello, I was overlooking you conversations about the Sexton's records for Hunterdon County and a thought occurred to me that perhaps I might obtain some response. My gggg- Father was the sexton for the Zion Evangelical Church in New Germantown / Oldwick c1800 -1843. I do have the info from the N E Genealogy recodes of his marriage and Children from that area but so far have been totally unsuccessful in tracing either line any further back. The Following is an excerpt that I stumbled on many years ago. "His
8. [NJHUNTER] CONNER, Metter - 1900 NJ Federal Census Lookup? [1]
Does anyone out there have access to the 1900 Federal Census for NJ? How about the 1895 State Census for NJ? I'm hoping to find a Mettler CONNER, age abt 39 (in 1900 and 34 in 1895). He "might" have been in Hopewell boro of Mercer County during this time period. Thank you, Dan Conner Nebraska
9. [NJHUNTER] Re: NJHUNTER-D Digest V03 #95 [1]
On the subject of YOUNG in Hunterdon County, I have another little puzzle to solve, maybe it is connected to what you are putting together? My ancestor, William Silverthorne, who lived in Hunterdon County near High Bridge, married an unknown wife about 1750. She died abt. 1776 and he remarried abt 1780 to widow Mary YOUNG of Lebanon, mother of Matthias (of age in 1794) and Peter YOUNG (a minor in 1794). Mary and William belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church at Oldwick (formerly Germantown). Prior to

11. RE: [NJHUNTER] Conovers of Tewksbury? [1]
Rick, I'm not researching Conovers, per se, but am curious about Mary Elizabeth Apgar's mother Mary Farley. Did Mary have any brothers or Farley relatives who migrated to Mercer or Garrard Co KY circa 1780-1800? Jeff, In not all cases is a sexton in charge of a cemetery. Many of our local cemeteries have a board overseeing the management of the cemetery and handling the records. If it is a church cemetery, there may be a church sexton who maintains the property physically and can answer questions. In those cases - you're in luck! Often you need to write to the church in question and address your inquiries to "Cemetery Board." Sharon Jeffery Lensman wrote: Jan, No question is a silly
13. Re: [NJHUNTER] Conovers of Tewksbury? [1]
There were Conovers in the Pennington NJ area in the 60s. Actually, Garrett Conover graduated from high school with me in 1963! His family was affiliated with the Blawenburg Reformed Church and I believe the church still keeps in touch with them altho they're retired and have moved away. If you get in touch with the church, they may be able to help you. Blawenburg is just outside of Hopewell on Route 518, about half way to Route 206 from Hopewell. If you call or write to the church, ask for Nancy and t
14. [NJHUNTER] BURIAL TRANSCRIPT [1]
I know this question may seem silly to a number of you, but this is new to me & I would like more information regarding it. Who or where do I contact to get a BURIAL TRANSCRIPT (or is this a death certificate)? This list is great and I am sure someone can help me out. Each time I read this list I learn something new. Thank you all for any help you can give. Jan

16. Re: [NJHUNTER] Beers Atlas of Warren County, 1874 INDEX [1]
Jan......Great sites! How might I find more information about the history of the STILL VALLEY HOTEL? (p. 42, District No. 6 on the Greenwich map). I would like to trace the deed, as my great-grandfather Jacob B. Vliet was the proprietor/owner? around 1860. The old stone building still stands today, stuck midway between the highway pavements just south of Straw Church. It's an antique business with apts upstairs. Do you know where I mean? Perhaps you could pass this inquiry on to Marshall Lak

Hi Bill; I'm sorry I don't have any information on you YOUNG family. But I did find, several years ago in an antique store in Cape May, New Jersey, some photos that I decided to 'rescue'. All of the photos have the same handwriting on them and include the inscriptions listed below. The photos are also available to view on the web at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kdecker/PhotoAlbum/Pages/Youngs.htm If you or anyone else on the list know this family and would like these photos please conta
19. [NJHUNTER] Conovers of Tewksbury? [1]
Greetings, Is anyone researching the Conovers of Tewksbury? I'm specifically looking for information about the ancestors and descendants of a Garret Conover who may have been born in 1774 and who I last find in the 1850 census in Tewksbury. I believe that Garret's first wife was Mary Elizabeth Apgar (1784-c1818) daughter of Conrad Apgar and Mary Farley. Garret's second wife may have been Elizabeth Hoffman Lomerson, widow of Conrad Lomerson. I'm trying to determine if my ancestor Lydia Conover Hof

Dear Bill: > I am searching for parents/siblings of Mary YOUNG b. circa 1790's d. ? > In 1816 she married Peter MYERS/MIRES. 21. [NJHUNTER] Re: Silverthornes [1]
Hi Jeffery, I'm afraid I can't help you with your Youngs or Silverthornes but I simply had to add the comment that I spent six years of my youth living on Silverthorne Rd in High Bridge. I don't know the history of this short street's name (a spur off Fairview Ave near Cregar Rd) but I'd be willing to bet that it is related to your Silverthornes somehow. Regards, Rick Novak

Hi, folks...... Marshall Lake recently organized a group of us (Sharon Rhodes, Bob Lanterman, Wendy A. Heitzman, Marilyn Souders, John DeHart, Barbara Heutchy, Nora, Mickey Baldwin, Bob Riddle, Alice Parr, Marshall and me) to type an every-name index for the 1874 Beers Atlas (with homeowners' names). There are two places you can find this index. On Marshall's site, the index is at http://mlake.net/book-indexes/Beers1874WarrenCo/. On my site, there are links to the index on the same page that has links
23. [NJHUNTER] Re: NJHUNTER-D Digest V03 #87 [1]
Jan, I just had another thought. In case I was off base on what you meant by "a burial transcript", this can also refer to the church book entry for a burial that a church was in charge of. The catholic and Lutheran churches usually have kept church registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, so that would be another source to check besides the cemetery records if you are dealing with an unobtainable death certificate. 24. Re: [NJHUNTER] Re: CONNER, Mettler [1]
Dan, Since Mary found them in 1900, here is the 1895 census for this family: Eli M. Conner, white male, age 20-60, Emma R. Conner, white female, age 20-60, Jessie R. Conner, age 5-20, white female. The are listed in East Amwell Township Hunterdon County, between the families of Andrew Smith and Stephen Danberry. Page 29, dwelling house 201. I missed them before because there was no Mettler as a first name, but E. Mettler Conner is as good as Eli M. Conner with the same wife and daughter. Pam Bush
