I am a descendant of Col. Jos. Beavers. I gave all my info to the owner of this website: http://www3.telus.net/cliffordweb. You'll find the most info on the Colonel under the section for generation 3, and some stuff on succeeding generations afterwards.

Hoping for help in unravelling a family mystery.
Bet. 1745-1747 our ancestor, William Current, landed in NJ, an orphan,

An Elisha Barton took him in, (possibly as an indentured servant?) The next
record we have of William is in Oxford, Sussex Co., as an adult. When he
lived with the Bartons he was probably in another part of New Jersey. I
really need to identify who this Elisha Barton was, in order to piece

Alice, I know that there was a Barton family that went to Virginia, and from
there to Kentucky, and were neighbors of the Daniel Boone family. There is
a historic Mill, Red Mill, that was owned and operated by an Elisha Barton,
who was part of this family. It is still in operation as a historic place.
Also, there was a James Current family which I have been trying to connect
to our William Current of Sussex Co., who moved to Monogalia Co., VA. If
you could help me figure out a migratory pattern that woul
John,
Thanks so much! I'm at a point in my research where I've hit the proverbial
wall on my ancestor Philip BELLIS, who was married in KY but born "in NJ"
circa 1792. Figuring which BELLIS/BELLISFELT branch
(Hunterdon/Somerset/Sussex/Warren Co NJ) he belonged to has been difficult,
so I'm looking at military units and trying to triangulate surnames who end
in close to Philip in KY. I've looked over some of the Archive microfilm,
but it's very tedious when you don't know what surname you're looking for.
Judith,
It's interesting to see the name Waterhouse connected with Hunterdon. My
immigrant Andrew Smith who came to Hopewell in 1677 had an ancestor Andrew
who married a Susanne Waterhouse in the West Riding of Yorkshire in 1578.
And, do you know that branches of the Waterhouse name have been simplified
through the years to "Watrous"?
However, I can offer no information about John Miller.
Good luck hunting,
Gary

I have a Thomas Beavers, b. 1766 in Louden County, VA. He married a Sarah
Lentz Spencer. They migrated to Highland County, Ohio.
It is thought that this Thomas Beavers is related to the Beavers who were in
Sussex and Hunterdon Counties. I am not sure anyone knows exactly what the
relationship of this Thomas Beavers to the NJ Beavers is, but everytime I see
Spence/Spencer come up, I feel that this family might be the same as Thomas
Beavers of Va's wife.
After looking at that Clifford Website, I se
