Another consideration....although I'm far from an expert in this
respect.....
If you suspect, or family lore claims, that your ancestor MAY have owned a
specific house (or a certain farm), it often helps to begin by obtaining the
identity of the current owner, and then tracing the deed backwards. As most
every deed mentions the name of the prior owner, it's fairly easy to trace
the ownership deed by deed. This system worked for me in several instances,
leading me directly to my ancestor's name.

Pat, I've found some other DeWitt names in Snell's works.

Thanks, Bob. I've now looked at the description of the NJ Genealogical

What a formidable index of Bible records in their collection! I wonder

that interest me. With luck I'll be able to spend 5 or 6 days in the
Amwell-Ringoes area this summer.

Thanks for sending that information Lorrie. It is wonderful information.
At this point it doesn't help me but I'm sure someone will benefit from it

I truly doubt that there are any Davenports listed for that church but would

Dear Marilyn,
I'd like to learn more about Peter Myers. All I know is his birth date,
from the family bible, and the name of his wife, Mary Young. Here is
some of what I have on John Myers/Mires and his family--
John Johannes Albertus Mires was born about 1725 in Alstadt, Germany. He
died about 1775. He was probably the son of Johannes Meyer of Alstadt,
Germany, son of George Meyer, who married 29 Jan 1721 Anna Catharina,
daughter of Nicolaus Ahrfeller in Alstadt. They had sons Johann Gerhard

I'm having to write you through NJHUNTER-L again as I'm still having problems with my laptop set-up. Believe its due to having DSL - SBC Yahoo and a local company, Snowcrest which I haven't wanted to disconnect due to genealogy contacts.

Dear Gary and Dav
Dave,
I look on line when I can but seems at my age sickness prevents my
becoming involved. I have so much info and never the time to send it out.
This fascinates me as years ago we went to the Independance graveyard on
my husbands grandfathers farm. We took pictures of the two Shepherds
stones. Last time we were there in the 80's they were leaning on a tree. I
think that yard now is probably homesites. However by the road was an Iron
Fence Graveyard with Rittenhouses, Brays, and Peggs in it
There is another John Lomerson that moved to Round Valley - he is mentioned
in Early Germans. I think this is where the name split Lamerson, Lomerson.
Although, I have even seen Lamison used.
Found John R. Sutton and Aaron P. Sutton living next to each other
in the 1860 Federal Census, Hunterdon Co., Tewksbury Township. I would
tend to believe these are brothers given proximity, ages and both noted as
masons by trade.
I have John R. Sutton (b. ca 1834) married first to an Elizabeth ?
and having two children, George W. (ca 1855) and Anna (b. ca 1858 and d.
before 1860). Elizabeth died before 1869 as I have John marrying Josephine
D. Ammerman in Mar 1869 and having numerous
