I have a Jasper, possibly Joshua Jasper KYSER born in 1733 in NJ. I
have Sussex County listed (JUST discovered Sussex didn't exist in 1733)
I was wondering if anyone has any info on him or others. I am looking
for his parents.

It's also adjacent, I believe, to Bucks Co., PA. Where are you going in PA?
If you cross the River from Hunterdon near Lambertville, you'll land in
Bucks...county that is! Wonderful genealogy library at museum in Doylestown,
PA. Town of Ringoes is approximately where old Amwell was....still in one of
the Amwell Townships or so I was told at the branch library there.

If I have a birth supposedly in 1733 Sussex County, NJ and the was no
Sussex County at the time. Would I still look for Sussex County records
if the birth occured in what is NOW Sussex County or would I look in
Hunterdon County?
I know some places you would have to look in the original county but
then for some you look in the present county.

Henry WALTER (may be WALTERS or WATTERS) born 1778 was said to be from New
Jersey. He and his wife Catherine GRESS / GRACE were located in Hamilton
Twp., Northampton Co. PA in 1811 where 5 of their children were born. The
place of birth of their first two children; Margaret, b. 1807 and Jacob, b.
1810 is unknown. I would like to find out where Henry was located in NJ
from birth to the time of moving to PA and who his parents were.
Any information or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This article from the newspaper is just the first 7 paragraphs of the story,
and the rest deals with the stage lines and mostly railroads, but I thought
that the information from this news article would be interesting to the
researchers that have ancestors from these counties in New Jersey.

Hunterdon listers,
I am interested in knowing if any of the folks researching Moores in the
Hunterdon area have ever stumbled across my ancestor, Lewis H Moore. Lewis and
his wife, Sarah Bean Moore seem to have materialized in Montgomery County, PA
in the late 1800s, shortly before the death of Lewis. Jacob, John, and Abraham
are common names in the information I have so far, some of which is attached
below. Hence, I was intrigued by the recent post regarding Hunterdon Moores.
All of my research to date ha
Greetings,
I'm trying to find out more about Thomas Waters/Walters who was born in
c1725 and died Feb 16, 1767 in Hunterdon Co., NJ. His wife Priscilla (last
name unknown) was born c1730 and died Apr 30, 1806 also in Hunterdon County.
I am a descendent of their daughter Mary who was married to William Savidge.
Another daughter, Deborah, spouse of William Van Kirk, was a great
grandmother of President Warren G Harding.
I recently found some data on the LDS website regarding a Thomas Waters of

The militia list for Amwell as well as other townships of
Hunterdon county - plus 1774 tax ratable tables - were
all published in the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey.
This is a multiple volume set published by the NJ State
Genealogical Society, I think quarterly. Kenn Stryker-Rodda
indexed the first 45 volumes or so before his death. Each
volume has it's own index as well but often articles are
continued across books. I know the larger NJ genealogical
societies and libraries all carry this - perhap
If it is not too difficult or time consuming, I would appreciate a
lookup for JEREMIAH FRENCH who is known to have been a Private in the
Hunterdon Co. New Jersey Militia during the Revolutionary War. He was
born at Amwell, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey in 1762. Any information
from anyone about this grandparent of mine would be greatly
appreciated. I'll be away from home for a couple weeks, so take your
time.

I'm looking for any information on Samuel & John Troy of Hunterdon Co.
They both served in the Rev. War for Hunterdon Co. I don't know if they
were brothers or father- son. Also some children are John C., Thomas &
McVey. The children left N.J around 1800 and moved to Columbia/ Luzerne
Co, Pa. John C. Troy married Elizabeth Cramer, whose parents were
George ( of Lebenon, Hunterdon Co) & Sophia ( Kline of Kingwood) Cramer
( Kremer). No Troy's show up on any census until after 1830. No wills

Hi list!
I'm a new lister and wanted to know if anyone knows of these surnames
from Hunterdon County:
Thomas BETHEL is listed in the 1840 census in the Kingwood Township and
Ella CARFREY was born in the Alexandria Township in 1863 (father listed
as Morgan CARFREY) according to the IGI. Please let me know of any
other BETHEL or CARFREY information in Hunterdon County. Thanks!

Joyce,
Just in case you don't get a thank you. Your efforts are appreciated.
I recently went to a cemetery and looked up several dates, etc. I was
disappointed that I received no acknowledgement, even just the receipt of the
message. I posted my findings several times to the whole list and directly
to the person making the request.
It's just a courtesey that would be appreciated.

Thank you all who answered my question about the SSDI CD. Sorry I didn't say
thanks sooner but it has been a hectic last few days. I do appreciate
everyone's speedy response!

Hi. Hope you can help me with our tree. We have "Lillie Bellis" d. Sept.
1895, her father was "Richard Bellis", a sheriff of Hunterdon Co., N.J. We
have reason to believe that she was somehow related to John Philip Sousa's
wife, Jane VanMiddlesworth Bellis, for whom my late mother-in-law was named.
Supposedly, Jane was her great-aunt. Can anyone please help me find out if
this is fact or not. I would greatly appreciated it.
