Greetings,
A family legend claims that my 'orphaned' GG grandmother Ella Hummer (1864-1925) of Hunterdon County, NJ was the daughter of an Elizabeth Lewis and the granddaughter of a Jacob Lewis. While searching for matches for Jacob, I discovered a Jacob Lewis (b1814) who was married to Eliza Bellis in 1833 in Somerset County, NJ. Jacob was the son of an Isaac Lewis and Fanny Gertrude Kline. I'm interested in learning more about this Jacob, especially his children. I'd also like to find out if there we
My Soden's were married by John S. Coit, "Minister of the Gosple" at Clinton Parsonage. They were married in Bethlehem Hunterdon NJ. Any other instances of Rev. Coit or any knowledge of Clinton Parsonage?

Hi Bill,
Have you checked with the Historical Society in Flemington New Jersey. I
believe they have a copy of the "Eick" family Bible.

Hi,
I was wondering if some kind soul would do an look-up for me.
I need a look-up for the following families:
John UDY - he is listed on the 1850 census in Amwell Twp. E&W, Hunterdon
County, New Jersey on page 25.
William CRATOR - he is listed on the 1850 census in Lebanon Twp.,
Hunterdon County, New Jersey on page 242.
David UDY - he listed on the 1860 census in Delaware Twp., Hunterdon
County, New Jersey on page 350.
John UDY - he is listed on the 1860 census in West Amwell
I've been lurking for months and now I think I'm ready to try for
information. I am looking for anything on PETER HUFF, SR. The only thing I
know about him is that in his Rev. War pension application (which was filed
in Mercer Co., KY in 1832) he states that he was "born in Leydon Township,
Huntingdon (sic) Co., New Jersey". He gives his age as 76 (birth date
c1756). He moved to Mercer Co., KY in 1794 where witnesses to his
application were "his neighbors in NJ: Cornelius Vanandall and Daniel Cov
My Soden's were married in Bethlehem Township in 1863 and they were residents at least through the 1870 Census. Don't see Bethlehem Township on a 1895 Hunterdon Map. The Census states Post Office = Bloomsbury, so did it absorb into Bloomsbury?

At the Hunterdon County Clerks Office is a card file

"There are two groups of records here.
The first group is arranged by cemetery in alphabetical

The second group is arranged only in alphabetical order

I am looking for the parents of John B. Cain. John was born on April 7,
1804. The 1830 census has him living in Amwell Twp, Hunterdon Co., NJ. The
1840 census lists him living in Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co. NJ. The 1850
censuses has him living in Hopewell Twp, Mercer Co., NJ. I believe John had
a brother named Joseph born around May 20, 1797. On January 8, 1824, John
married Anna Myers (daughter of Albertus and Anna (Hann) Myers). They were
married by Rev. Israel Poulson of the Dunkard Church. I do

MY SINCERE APOLOGIES TO THE LIST AGAIN.
Karen: I simply cannot access either of your email addresses. How
frustrating! I'll certainly be taking this up with Ocean, my internet
service provider.
This will be my last message to you via the list. Sorry! I wish it didn't
have to be so, but it's not fair on the others to have to delete all of our
private correspondence.
Warmest regards,
Mary Jo

Does anyone know where the Sutton Burial Ground is located in Delaware

I, for one, do not mind at all getting miscellaneous email when it comes to
digging up family facts -- even when the facts don't pertain to my family
-- I find the whole thing fascinating and find myself "rooting" for all of
you as I read your messages. No need to apologize here. After all, when I
joined this list, I expected to get all the peripheral emails. Good Luck !
Greetings,
A recent review of the 1860 Census Index shows a Jacob Hummer living in Union
TWP. My great aunt Dorothy Apgar recently sent me an abstract of a will for
a Jacob Hummer probated in 1896. We believe that 'our' Ella Hummer
(1864-1925) may be related to a Jacob Hummer. Family legend also claims that
she may have been from the Union TWP area. I'd love to hear from anyone with
more information on ANY Jacob Hummers, particularly from mid 19th century
northern Hunterdon County. 'Our' Jacob m
My heartfelt apologies to the list yet again. I cannot reply to Karen

A good place to look for records of the Old Straw Church would be the
Marx Local History Room at the Easton Area Library in Pennsylvania.
The hours for the Marx Room are Monday - Friday 10:00AM to 4:00PM, and
Saturday 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
You may contact the library at (610) 258-2917.
Good Luck!

Can anyone tell me whether there was an 1865 NJ state census? Is it
available through LDS Family History Centres?
I am desperate to find Thomas HARRITY, described as "of Hunterdon County,
N.J." on 20 November 1866 in his sister Susannah DEVER's Claim for Increase
of Widow's Pension.
I cannot find him anywhere. I believe that years ago I checked for him in
Lambertville, Hunterdon Co. in the 1860 and 1870 federal censuses, to no
avail. Does anyone have access to an index for the 1860 or 1870 federal

Any help on this would be appreciated as I have been stuck on her for a long
