The Van Horns of White House
The Van Horn Family, now very numerous in our State, were originally from Holland, as the name indicates.
Abraham Van Horn came from Monmouth to White House, in this county, about 1749. Tradition says that he
was from Holland, and that the name was Tyson, being changed to Van Horn for some political reason. The
family is numerous in Bucks County, Pa., and they give evidence of their Dutch origin.

I just want to thank you all who responded to my question. I will try all
the avenues that you all have suggested. Somewhere out there are the

Thanks again
Does a location called Acquacan ack in East Jersey sound familiar to
anyone?
The Bowlby family was all over the place (in terms of "sides" during the
revolution...)
A transcription of "The Deposition and Losses of John Bowlby" from the
PRO in England indicates John "embraced the first opportunity of joining
the British Troops, which was on the 5th January 1777 at a Place called
Acquacan ack in East Jersey"
I'm trying to figure out where that was, and how close it was to
Pequanock, where I understand anot
Hello to all
I am going to try this one again. I am stuck at a brick wall. I can not
find anything on Charles W. DENSON I know he was born Feb 21, 1856 in
Headquarters, and most likely died there. Any Ideas on how to get a Birth
Cert or anything on this guy?
I know he married my Ggrandmother Oct 11, 1879, And they had several
children. But other than that I know little. All ideas will be greatfully
accepted.
Thanks in advance
Anita
Hello to All
I want to thank everyone who has responded to my plea. I have found some
really good leads and now will be sending for a Birth Cert again. Thanks to
all

My father was in the sixth Marine Division during WWII. He was in Okinawa as
well as China after the war. I have his discharge papers, but all they tell
me is dates of service, and where he enlisted and got discharged. Is there
still a way to get a hold of his records? Someone told me that they may have
parished. Any help would be appreciated. I found a great web site on the
Sixth Marine division. They have a picture on there that I was happy that
included my Dad. It also has on there newsletter
Hi,
I was wondering where I can search or request records for the 1700's and
early 1800's. I need birth/death and marriage records. I tried the County
Clerk of Hunterdon and she said they don't keep those records. Also the
state only list 1848-1878.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Subject: Marriage Records
Greetings!
The following is from a photocopy of a page from "Marriage Records of Hunterdon County
New Jersey 1795-1875, by Hiram E. Deats."
"Conner, Samuel and Clarasa S. Hann, Mar. 14, 1866, 4-8 (Van Slyke)."
Would I be correct to *assume* that the "4-8" is a volume and page number?
If so, would the Hunterdon County Clerk and/or the State Archives have more
information on this marriage?
Thank you,

Bruce,

James L. Middlesworth, will & inventory, 1827

MIDDLESWARTH/REED
I am researching John MIDDLESWARTH, who paid taxes in Kingwood Twp in 1780
and in Bethlehem Twp in 1785, 1786, 1789, and 1790. His name is in a
mortgage index for Hunterdon Co in 1789. He married Martha REED, perhaps of
Hunterdon Co, or nearby. He was a Presbyterian, and I would like suggestions
as to which churches might have a record of his marriage and/or the births
of his children from 1768 to 1792.

There's a town once called Acquackanonk Landing in Passaic.
There is a list of old New Jersey town names at
http://www.genealogy-quest.com/collections/njplace.html
I have some ancestors that came from Acquackanonk, which has been
part of Passaic County, possible Bergen and Essex Counties at one
time as well. During the 1850s, it was part of Passaic County. I think
it is know as Clifton today, probably close to Paterson.
