Re the family given in the Lambertville Beacon, starting with the Phillips

is the same person as Mary Caroline Larrison who marr. 18 Nov 1886 Charles
Elsworth Holcombe, b. 25 Sep 1862, son of William Frederick Holcombe and Ann

Yes, I am quite familiar with this material, and I agree with Mr. Bill that
no one can say conclusively that it is completely accurate, but I will say
this. I have used the information given in it for a springboard to researching my
family and everything that he said about my family and its connections has
checked out so far.
I am very impressed with the site. I suggest you take what you read
there as a valuable aid , but still check it out in the usual ways.
It certainly confimed a lot
I am looking for parents of a William G. Taylor born abt 1811. He eventually

I think is father might be George, but that is only a guess.

Hello Phillips Family,
I would like to correspond with anyone who has descendants on the
Lambertville Beacon 1933 issue that John Newman sent out today. I have a lot of blanks I
would like to fill in in this family line.
I descend from #73 Annie Lavinia Phillips and George Whitenack. I have a
picture of Annie in my living room. She is my great grandmother and died
following the birth of her second child at only 36 years of age.
Thank you,
Phyllis Whitenack Patton
Looking for information on Peter and Betsey CLARK (may sometimes be spelled
Clarke). Their daughter Catherine (1793 - 1881) married Nehemiah TINKHAM in
1815 in PA. They both died in PA and buried in Waverly, Luzerne County,
Pennsylvania.
I have more about the Tinkham line or about Catherine and Nehemiah's children
if interested.

Hi Carol,
I have a Penelope Parke, born 1738 to William Parke (b. 1711) and Sarah
Jewell (b. 1720). Sounds like it could be the same family.
This site (http://www.cmemusic.com/genealogy/simunac%20v5-p/p4.htm)
shows Sarah Lee Parke as a daughter married to David Stout, so probably
not the same one. A place to start, though.

Hello fellow listers,
Sometime ago I posted a request on 3 lists (SLACK,
NJHUNTER, PABUCKS) for info on a Slack or Slacks that
were involved with a ferry crossing on the Delaware.
There were many wonderful responses and much insight
was gleaned. As it turns out, there were several
Slacks involved. This is a brief accounting of the
Slack involvement with the ferry.
On December 25, 1776, a General named George
Washington elected to cross the Delaware River so as
to engage British forces at what was to be ca
By the way, in going through some of the family files at the Hunterdon
Co. Historical Society, I have found instances where Mr. Deats has annotated
things as being "from the papers of Capt. John Bellis".
Captain John Bellis was the real name of the "Jay Bee" who is the
author of the "Recollections of Baptistown". Mr. Deats obviously saw in him a
valuable source of genealogical information.
The original articles from the newspapers are pasted on paper and are
found in two little
On the Lambertville Historical Society web page I see a reference to an
1863 Lambertville census. Can anyone tell me about it and where it is
available? I wasn't aware of it. What information does it ask?

I'm forwarding this from a contact. Can anyone out there help Carol? I did
find Isaac ARAY in Vol. 1 Index to Mortgages by P. D'Autrechy, believe he may be
father of Jacob. Got no where on the Militia ( only copied "pertinent to
family" pages). Any ideas? Wendy

This is a nice site with some genealogical history through 1897. Is anyone familiar with tis and do you believe that it is accurate.
http://www.raub-and-more.com/baptown/baptown1.html
Does anyone have a family tree for William Jewell and his daughter, Cornelia
(b. circa 1730). I have a record of Cornelia's baptism. Was William a
ship's captain? Did Cornelia's mother die young and did William remarry?
Are there other children? I believe this is the Cornelia Jewell who married
Frederick Fritts. I'd like to trace this Jewell family.
Thanks for any help.

Hello Everyone!
The first joint lecture series sponsored by the NJ State Archives and the
Genealogical Society of New Jersey wrapped up on November 5 with a most
interesting "Ask the Experts" evening. The lecture series was eight
evening lectures on a variety of topics. Information on the speakers and
topics can be found on the GSNJ's website: www.gsnj.org under the link
"Exploring Your Jersey Roots."
The lectures were wonderful and I wish everyone could have attended. I

A while ago, I started posting excerpts from Charles Stryker's Fillips series printed in the Lambertville Beacon in 1933. Here are two further instalments for those interested in the Phillips and related lines.

I am in the process of updating my ancestral genealogy information. I do
not have this updated info on-line but I do have an index into the info

Counties), and southern NY (Broome & Sullivan Counties). The index
contains over 11,000 names and can be seen at

I don't believe there is anyone alive today who can vouch for the accuracy of all the information contained in this collection of anecdotes. I did not compare the numerous names with the Hunterdon Gazette Index, but many of those names where familiar to me as author of said Index. If you or anyone else wants to take the time to compare the listing with the Index, I am sure there will be some confirmations. To make a blanket statement that "Yes, all the information is accurate," would be presumptuous.
