To those interested.....
I also have Kitchen ancestors who left NJ, settled in Jerseytown,
Northumberland Co., PA (later Columbia Co.), and then left for Canada or
Ohio (as homesteaders) in the early 1800's. Deeds for land settled by my
ggg grandfather in 1820 are found in Ohio.

Yes, thanks...I have a copy of LeQuear's book.
The John BELLIS who married Nellie WILLIAMSON appears to have been buried in
Trumbull Co OH, and NOT in Amwell NJ which is where various researchers have
listed his place of burial. I was trying to establish whether there were
other BELLIS relatives or associated NJ families living in OH who might have
moved back to NJ.

I need any information on Pope and Stevenson Families in Hunterton Co. They
probably were Quakers. It is reported that NATHANIEL POPE owned land
adjacent to THOMAS STEVENSON in 1698. A Quaker marriage record for SAMUEL
POPE and ELIZABETH STEVENSON is found in Warrington MM for their marriage at
the Menallen MM York Co., PA in 1751. It is possible that Nathaniel Pope
was the father of a family found in York/Adams Co., PA by 1748. Nathaniel
Pope may have married Mary Cope/Albon. Records are found in Che

Where in OHIO did they have their land? There were BELLIS/BELLESFELTs who

Hi Connie,
Sorry it's taken me so long to answer. Abraham and Margaret had 5 children:

My great(3)-grandparents Aaron STRIMPLE (1803-1890) and wife Keziah STOUT

the late 1830s. They lived at various times in Huron and Richland Counties,

I'll do some research in the next few days to see if I can come up with any
living LAKE descendants. Do you have more precise birthdates for John,
Velma and William and / or their NJ addresses? Did you glean any specific
information from the SSDI?
Let me know. I'll be glad to help.

Hi Mary Jo,
I have over the past months found my gggreatgrandfather in Hunterdon Co.,
namely ABRAHAM ALLEN who married MARGARET BELLIS (daughter of Adam Bellis
and Mary Rockfeller). I have gotten the BELLIS' all the way back to when
they came to the US. However I can't find out who ABRAHAM ALLEN'S parents
were. He was born in 1770 in Amwell Twsp., Hunterdon Co., so I'm assuming
his parents might have been married there also. He did serve in the Militia
in 1792 and that seems to be the only other recor
This won't go very far in shedding light upon your question, but Daniel Bray
, a son of James Bray, was my ancestor, Andrew Bray,'s nephew. Daniel
married a Woolverton, and other Bray family members married into the
Rittenhouse family. I have checked through my notes but haven't found
anything on Isaac Rittenhouse.
I certainly would go along with your speculation that he could have gone to
Ohio, had the deed recorded as a precaution and then even may have returned
to New Jersey.

service. However, I would caution against a subscription to One World Tree

I found a David CONNER in the 1930 Census age 54 and living in Alexandria with his wife was Ella, age 53.
I had a tremendous deal of difficulty making out his occupation. I finally decided that it had something to do with poultry?
Does anyone know of any poultry operations that would have been in existence during this time frame? I know it seems like a crazy question, but I would like to know some more about this David Conner.
Thank you,
Dan Conner

Dear Roz,
These are interesting deeds. I share what I know:
Daniel Bray bought 100 acres from his father-in-law Dennis Woolverton in
1774 in Kingwood on what is today Co. Rte 519. He built a log house there
which burned down and was replaced by a more substantial house. I found this
info in the Saxton Papers at the County Historical Society. You do not
mention how much land Bray sold to Job Emans; I presume it was not the
entire 100 acres since Bray stayed there until he died in 1819. In his will
