Searching for info on George Taylor Sr. family. George was born about 1790 and died in Knox Co., Illinois about 1870 (Probate recorded). He had son William G. born 1811 around Flemington. This Taylor family came to Knox Co., IL in 1853. George's (unknown) wife had probably died in NJ prior to 1853. Census for 1850 or any other info on this Taylor family greatly appreciated.

Hi Millie,
The Norton Cemetery is located on Charlestown Road in Union Township,
New Jersey. The cemetery is small, established in 1889. If you like,
I could check to see if there is a HENDERSHOT memorial there. Let me
know if you need help.

Yes, Joan, your email about St. Ann's Cemetery (on Nov. 8) has come
through to the list at least twice, possibly three times.
However, you are correct, I did a check of the archives and the only
messages from you is the delayed one from Oct. 10, that did not reach us in
time, and the message that you just sent this morning.
It's a mystery.

Sorry you feel that all of us old guys no longer are kicking. Maybe I am
getting a little old but I still research, especially Hunterdon County of the
1700's. I started my research in the year of 1962. Don't count us out yet.

Could someone please give me a listing of the cemeteries in Milford. My husband has
an aunt, Edna Rae (KENNEDY) MCDANIEL, who died Oct 15, 1937 in Philadelphia. Her
obituary states only that interment was in Milford, New Jersey.
Thanks for any help.

Nancy,
This would be Milford Union Cemetery located in Milford Borough. I am
working on documenting the monumental inscriptions. This project is not yet
complete, and the list is not proofread. For now, I show two MC DANIEL
stones. They are:
MC DANIEL Edna Rae, b. 1895 d. 1937 - Wife of Rev. C. A. McDaniel
--- also ---
MC DANIEL Gertrude Kellock, b. 1881 d. 1917 - Wife of Rev. C. A. McDaniel
I hope this helps. If you would like digital photos, please let me know.

FROG TAVERN, Raritan Township. This site was on the west side of the Trenton road [CR 579] 1 1/2 miles north of Croton. The tavern was in ruins by 1829. It had been known as the Swamp Tavern, Opdycke's Tavern and Trimmer's Tavern. When the property of Thatcher Trimmer, dec'd, was advertised for sale in 1901, one of his

Thank you for your very helpful responses to my original posting. It seems
quite likely that the Charles COX from whom Daniel GRIGGS purchased his

Any information on the COX/COXE family to confirm or refute this speculation

I think the problem is with Rootsweb. I belong to a number of mailing lists
and most have been quiet. Then yesterday I started getting double mailings
from them. This morning I got Joan Lowry's announcement about the Tombstone
hunt--eight days too late. She is always timely with announcements-- I'll
bet she posted that at least 10 days ago, probably more. Pity--I would have
liked going, too.

For what it is worth, my father was a forensic chemist for the NJ State

Hi Marshall and All,
How about tax records, how far do they go back ? I think someone
earlier mentioned 1786, are those the earliest tax records ?
My Zachariah Clawson (Closen) claims in his Revolutionary War Pension file
that he was born in 1753 in Maidenhead, N.J. He mentions that his father
and mother carried him across the Delaware River when he was a young child
but he doesn't give his father or mother's name. I've found his mother name
in Bucks County, Pa. but not his father and suspect the fat
I was looking through our archives for any hints about my ancestors in New

I know, through John Wolford's pension interview, that John most likey lived
in Sussex County during the Revolution. In May 1777, he stated he went with
Capt John Pipenger, under Col. Jacob West, to guard the Sussex Court House.
He went out again in Sept 1777 under Capt. John Pipenger and Capt John Potty.
March 1778, he went with Capt John Winter, under Col. Jacob West, to
Elizabethtown. In summer of 1779, he went
