Dear Kim Eckhardt:
I'm not sure you're the right person for me to ask, but are you looking
up Hunterdon County residents in other areas?
If so, may I ask you to look for any OSBORN families from about 1700 to
about 1810? My Revolutionary ancestor, Joseph Osborn, left Hunterdon County,
East Amwell Township, for Warren County, Ohio, where he died. I may have his
exact birth in a family Bible, but I'll take a guess and say it might have
been about 1755, give or take five years.

My understanding, from a good friend and now a retired funeral director, is
that bodies were first embalmed during the Civil War so that the deceased
could be transported back home for burial. I believe arsnic was in wide use at
the time but that would be easy to check on.
Greetings!

I have no interest in the DAVIS family but after 44 years of research on my

Warren County, NJ.
They were on the east side of the Jenny Jump Mountains west of Hackettstown,

I have family who worked for the railroad and one or two who actually were
transported by rail after their death and most of the transportation was not
during your timeframe by train of anyone. That left horseback and wagons or
walking. I did a report once on embalming and there wasn't much of that
during your timeframe either. If you know more, please feel free to add
comments. The subject is interesting to me and I have often wondered about
it because we take for granted fast transportation toda

Interesting input on embalming...and also Susan Pena's input on the use of
the railroads. I suspect there wasn't much long distance transport of bodies
during the 1750-1840 timeframe (which is what I'm researching), especially
if we talking about the typical frontier pioneer family.
Thank you!

Hi all,
Below is the Joshua & Elizabeth DAVIS brood that Hazel Sheehan has. I exchanged e-mails with her last night and she told me that she had gotten the birthdates from another researcher who had seen the since-lost DAVIS Bible (which, we realize, calls the data into question, but some of the dates have worked out through research, so who knows?)
1. Hannah DAVIS b. 29 Apr 1763
2. William DAVIS b. 23 Dec 1764
3. Sarah DAVIS b. 23 Feb 1767
4. Prudence DAVIS b. 26 Apr 1769

Hi,
This is basically what I have attached on Frederick Cool of Washington Co.,
PA...census says he and his wife born NJ.
I have the book The BarentJacobsen Cool Family, and feel they connect but
don't have Frederick's wife's full name nor their marriage date.
The attached from Frederick on down (4) generations...notes, etc.
Wish I could get some documentation on Frederick's marriage to Mary unknown.
See what you think and let me know...I can give you how it connects (I
believe on back as well).

Hello Mary Jo Martin:
Wow; You sure do have a lot of resources. My main interest is in Samuel
Davidson/Davidson, born 1797 someplace and married about 1820 to Rebecca
Titus, possibly in the area of Northampton Co.; my secondary interest is in
Alexander and Abraham Davidson/Davison, possibly related to Samuel. I know
some Davidson/Davison's came out of Sussex Co., NJ and others possibly out
of Philadelphia and then Bucks Co., PA.
Any help is greatly appreciated and if you need more info, let me kno

Hello, Ann!
I have a Johann Crest Kuhl/Cool that was born around 1716 in Germany, in our
family tree. He married a Eva Marie Hommer. They had had 9 children.
Johann died in Amwell. Do you think that there may be a connection?
