1. [NJHUNTER] Greenage, Hunterdon Co. vs. Greenwich, Sussex Co. [1]
Q. Is/was there a place in Hunterdon Co. called Greenage? Although the Peter Williamson in the following extract is identified as being of Greenage, Hunterdon County, it seems likely that this reference is actually to Peter Williamson of Greenwich, Sussex County: 1773, June 26. Hunt, Samuel, of Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon Co. Int. Adm'r--Hugh McAllester, of said place. Fellowbondsman--Peter Williamson of Greenage, said Co. Witness--Furman Yard. 1773, Apr
2. Re: [NJHUNTER] REQ: Coryell in Lambertville [1]
Seeking information on Samuel CORL (also spelled COYL, COIL, CORYL, CARLE) born 1801, married TOBITHA ORIN before 1821, died Sept 15 1883 in Ravenna, OH. I found a note in www.FamilySearch.com that says he was born in Hunterdon (possibly as CORYELL) and his father was Benjamin, and grandfather was Samuel. Would like to know this for sure! Can anyone help? Kathi Corl Browne woodsieb@aol.com
3. [NJHUNTER] LAKE families in Lambertville [1]
I am researching 2 Lake families in Lambertville. The 1885 NJ State census says shows that Nickolas Lake (over 60 years of age) was living in the 2nd ward of Lambertville, with the Horten family. His daughter Mary was married to Alfred Horten. Also in the 2nd ward is Nickolas's son, Peter H. Lake and his wife Hannah (Horne). They are both about 20 years old, no children listed. - Jim L.

6. [NJHUNTER] Re: [Fwd: Harlingen Church: HAGAMAN] [1]
Dear Sharon, Thank you so much for taking the time to type in all this HAGAMAN info from the Harlingen Church in New Jersey. Several of my ancestors are included here, so it IS very helpful! Question: Why is the surname spelling consistently only "HAGAMAN" in this data, I wonder? Yes, some of the descendants became "HAGAMAN," but the original spelling of the name was "HEGEMAN" into the mid-1700's, and then many of them became also "HAGEMAN," including my line. For example, on your very last line you ha

9. Re: [NJHUNTER] Harlingen Church: HAGAMAN [1]
Hi Sharon, This is wonderful all this work you are doing on these records. I have a couple of questions. Do you know anything of the history of this church? And also are there any Hoff/Huff/Hough records included? Thanks millions. Linda
10. [NJHUNTER] Family Bibles [1]
Currently on eBay.com there is a family Bible for a Peter Blue, 1823-1850. If this is, or could possibly be, your family, please check it out. There are beautiful family Bibles on eBay every day, most with genealogical information. Some even have tintypes in them. You owe it to yourself to bookmark eBay and check it out. No, I have no affiliation with eBay. I just feel really bad when these items come up for auction; often there are no bidders. When you get to eBay enter "Bibles" or "Family Bible" or

Maisie, Abraham Stern is listed as a "Slave Owner" in the 1840 Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County Census. He is one of four slave owners indexed for Lebanon. Geoffrey Cooper see my web page for information about lookups @ NJ LOOKUPS
13. [NJHUNTER] Harlingen Church - BEEKMAN [1]
Please remember that I'm not doing lookups. Don't have the books available or the time as the books have to be searched page by page and are difficult to read at best. I still can't believe the secretary did all this research! Here are some Beekman marriages she researched for someone: Abraham Beekman/Matilda Nevius Dec 4, 1806 Aaron Van Der Bilt/Margaret Beekman, Nov 8, 1811 Nicholas Vechten/Cornelia Beekman, Aug 1, 1813 Abraham Beekman/Rachel Cruser, Feb 15, 1814 John Van Dyke/Martha Beekman, Nov 7, 1
14. Re: [NJHUNTER] Thanks to All of You Generous Researchers [1]
Hi Charlene - thank you for your time in putting down your thoughts about genealogy research in such a wonderful way. Your feelings and experiences exactly echo my own. I plan to forward on to my family what you have so generously shared with us. Maybe it will help them understand and appreciate this "addiction" we have to our past and our history. By the way, I also have Culvers, Heaths and Smiths in my family tree, along with Burroughs, Woolvertons, and Pettits from NJ, and probably Stropes and Sturgi

16. [NJHUNTER] Social Security Death Index [1]
I discovered something today that is interesting. I know most of us know these days you have access to the SSDI on diferent sites on the web ,like Ancestry and FTM online. Many of us also have the Cd's from family tree maker. This may be old news but Rootsweb has gone one step further with the Social Security Death Index on there web page. For starters theres goes to July 1999 and is updated monthly! Then it not only has a link to print out a letter to SS but also lets you leave a postem note for othe
17. [NJHUNTER] Treasure Hunt [1]
Hello All, I went to my first treasure hunt last week at the Lambertville Antique market on Rte 29. What a great experience. Did not find any treasures, but learned alot. It is a shame so many people have lost part of their history. I found many, many beautiful photos from the late 1800's and most have no way to identify the subjects. I think that is a shame. I guess these photos come from estate sales and are virtually "lost" forever from the descendents If i get another chance to go back, I wil
18. [NJHUNTER] Townships in Hunterdon? [1]
What are the names of the townships in Hunterdon? Is there a Miller Township? Thanks, Pam
19. Re: [NJHUNTER] Lambertville [1]
St. Johns cemetery has a card file which has been microfilmed by the Mormons, though for some reason I can't find it in the online catalog at http://www.familysearch.org . It may strictly be limited to military veterans buried in the cemetery; my ancestor, Michael McGuire (1832-1904) appears on LDS microfilm #83662, so you might want to check that number, if you can, for a complete name of the document, and my old typed notes only name the source as "burial record" and give the above cited GS number. 20. [NJHUNTER] (Clara Rogers of Hopewell [1]
Lisa, Here's a message I'm forwarding from my cousin (actually a three-times-removed) in Lancaster cuz she's a dingaling and refuses to learn how to "send". She can only "get new message"! "9/9/99 I recently received an email letter from a relative who subscribes to NJHUNTER mailing list. When she noticed your request for information about Clara Rogers and the fact that she once lived in Hopewell, she forwarded the request to my sister and my sister forwarded it to me as we lived across the street from C
21. Re: [NJHUNTER] Greenage, Hunterdon Co. vs. Greenwich, Sussex Co. [1]
Dear Peter: There is no listing for any spelling variation of Greenage in the following book: Hunterdon County Place Names, by Phyllis B. DAutrechy, published by Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Flemington, NJ, 1992 The closest I can find are: Green Sergeants Bridge: See: Sergeants Bridge Greenville: See: Reaville Greenwood Grove, Raritan Township: This site is marked on the Cornell map of 1852 along the South Branch of the Raritan River northeast of Flemington. Good luck! Mar

23. [NJHUNTER] Todd's living in Lambertville [1]
Good morning, listers. I am seeking information on the family of Jeremiah Todd who were farming in Lambertville. The 1860 census shows Jeremiah and Elizabeth Todd living with two children. One of whom is John Runkle Todd, b. 1858. He is the ancestor from whom my husband's line continues. I have had a duce of a time going backwards however. The old family bible says Jeremiah's father was named Charles Todd, but I haven't mad any direct connections. I hope that by writing this forum, I can find someon
24. [NJHUNTER] Ann Bennett, b. 1790 [1]
Hi, List, Has it been unusually quiet this past weekend, or am I missing some messages? Does anyone have any information on Ann Bennett, b. July 10, 1790, d. Apr. 24, 1861, married June 8, 1823 to John Strycker Probasco? He is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery. I'm guessing she is, too. ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
