1. [NJHUNTER] Osmun/Osman [1]
(Cross posting) Within the past few weeks someone posted a query about an Osmun/Osman family. I've tried retrieving it at the Rootsweb mailing list archives but haven't found it. Could that person contact me? Marilyn
2. Re: [NJHUNTER] Hunterdon County Democrat [1]
Rochelle, I will look for you on Thursday since I will be at the Hunterdon County Historical Society that has the original copies of the Democrat. I'll take a digital photo of the obits, if found, and send them to you via email. Is the spelling correct for Cylinda Myers? I've never seen that one before! 3. Re: [NJHUNTER] Hunterdon Militia in Rev. War [1]
There were 4 regiments to the Hunterdon County Militia. The best place to begin your search is in Stryker's, which can be extracted on http://www.geocities.com/dane97520/StrykerIndex.html but this on-line list only has those people specifically mentioned by Stryker as coming from Hunterdon or Somerset. The other place to go is to the NJ State Archives. Once there, you can perform searches (by name) on different indices. There are no good lists aside from these sources. A lot of records have been lost or

7. Re: [NJHUNTER] Huntedon Democrat [1]
Rose, The Hunterdon County Democrat was started in 1838 and continues through today. There were papers published prior to the Democrat. I believe the Gazette was the earlier paper. There are other NJ papers (earlier) that covered some Hunterdon County events but don't know the names. Bill Hartman may be able to expand on this. I have extract of the Democrat from 1838-1886 on my web page. You can find it at: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jerseyite/ Dennis At 10:17 AM 09/17/2002 -0700,

10. Re: [NJHUNTER] Huntedon Democrat [1]
Hi Rose, As Dennis mentioned in his email to you, there was an earlier newspaper in Hunterdon County and it was the first, with the first issue in March 1825. It continued until 1866 when it was purchased by the Democrat. I am indexing and extracting via computer word document all of the news items pertaining to people and events of Hunterdon County as it then existed. I have completed 12 years and will soon have the Index on a Web site, hopefully later this month. This will be followed by a CD which will

15. [NJHUNTER] Henry Pickle [1]
To Whom it may concern: My gr gr grandparents were married in Hunterdon County. The information shows: Henry Pickle married Mary Smith Oct, 3, 1824 HCM Vol. 2 P. 263 by J. P. Stires. Is it likely that this reference would show their parents? They were obviously members of the Lebanon Dutch Reformed Church because their first five childtren were christened there. Any clue you have would be great. Thank you. Geneva Damron

Hoping someone can help me. In the book, "The Early Germans of New Jersey their History, Churches and Genealogies" by Chambers, on page 37 it reads, In Stillwater, Sussex Co. there was a Union Church as early as the middle of the last century. Services in German were also held very early in the neighborhood of Newton, Sussex county. And these churches were attended by the following families: My ancestor being SWICK.
