1. Re: [NOR-VOSSELAG] Norheim [1]
Hello Robert, welcome to the Vosselag list. Vivian woke the list up so some rambling is most welcomed, if not we have someone to blame! My grandmother was a Rokne and I'm related to the coach. I see Jean did some research on your question and found a connection with the Glimme line. I have to ask about the Aslak Bratteker. Is this the Bratteker farm in Voss or the one in Hol, Buskerud? If it's Hallingdal roots you might have other connections to the coach. As far as I know and Birger Rokne
2. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Martha Heljesdatter Lund Gullickson Fadnes - Evanger roots [1]
Hi, doesnt the title of this posting get your attention. I am going to explain all these names to you and try and make a long story short if that is possible. We discussed that it might be a good idea to put this on the Vosselag List since this connects into so many areas and with so many family names. Several evenings ago I had an e-mail from Vivian Gullickson White asking: I wonder if you or the others might know the first name of Mary Henderson's husband. I have only that she married Mr. Fadnes
3. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Norheim [1]
Robert, Welcome to the Vosselag List and might I say welcome to you from all the various cousins you have on the list. Yes you are related to most of us from the relationship checking that I just did. This is kind of a rambling answer but hopefully it will answer some of your questions and it will very likely pose a few more for you. I am going to try and answer this the best I can, anyone can correct me if they dont agree with this. I do NOT find Knute Larsson Rokne (the Coach) related to your Knut

Hi Bill, I have a couple of scanned pages from the Anderson-Krogh genealogy which has a few more generations for Brita. I am sending them to you offline. 5. Re: [NOR-VOSSELAG] Peter Sampson Een - error in Rene book? [1]
Hi, the Herborg Olsdatter Gjerdager shown in the Volume 2 Naeseth book on page 46 is not the one connected to the Een family. Below is the Herborg who I believe to be the correct one. In the 1825 marriage record shown below for Samson Pederson and Herberg Olsdatter Saue she is listed as 32 years old. This would make her born in about 1793. Here she is living on Soue (Saue) with her parents in the 1801 census. Sampson Pederson was married twice, first to Brita Nilsdatter Saue and then to Herborg Ol
6. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Johannes Sjurson Berstad/Torbjørg Knutsdatter Fadnes correction [1]
In the search that I worked on for Martha Heljesdatter Lund Gullickson Fadnes - Evanger roots I came across another item that will be of interest to those of us with Voss roots. Martha Heljesdatters mother Marta Sjursdatter Berstad and her family members are listed in the Volume 3 Naeseth book on page 5. On entry number 52 for Marta Sjursdatters brother, Johannes Sjurson Bergstad and his wife Torbjxrg Knutsdatter Fadnes there is an error. The error is in the listing of the parents of Torbjxrg Kn

Thanks Jean. Now that I have been brave enough to send out an email, it's exciting to hear back from you. My genealogy trip to western Norway was summer 1991 and a great trip including Voss all the way to Trondheim. I'm all Norwegian and my family came to America between 1840 - 1860. My Sogn family came from Ardal and Borgund in Sognefjord. Thanks cousin. Evonne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Marthaler" To: Sent: Monday, March 17, 20
8. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Norheim [1]
Greetings to the list, I've been lurking for some time but I suppose, now that my surname has actually popped up in a recent email, it's time for me to introduce myself. Sorry if this is a little rambling. If it gets boring, skip to my question in the last paragraph. I'm Robert Norheim. My great grandparents are Wiking Brynjulvson Nordheim (1857-1939) and Inger Oddsdatter Fletre (1865-1945), both from Voss but married after they both came to Chicago. The Nordheim (Norheim, Nordhem) surname was

No, no relation. See http://staff.washington.edu/norheim/norheim.html for an explanation. --Rob On Sat, 8 Mar 2008, dgray wrote: > Would you be related to the Norheim's around Madock, ND? R Norehiem was an > evangelist and preached in nearly all of my churches. Just wondering. > Dennis Gray

Are you Robert somehow related to Rosenius Norheim? He was an evangelist and has family in Madock, North Dakota. 11. Re: [NOR-VOSSELAG] Peter Sampson Een - error in Rene book? [1]
Vivian, from the records that I have available it appears that Herborg Olsdatter Saude was the second wife or second companion of Samson Pederson Een. I would have to look to see if they were actually married. She is listed on Page 46 of the Volume 2 Naeseth book as you say and her son Ole Samsonsen Een fathered by Samson Pederson Een is listed on the top of page 45 of the Volume 2 Naeseth book. Here is the birth of Ole Samsonsen Een on February 26, 1826. Kildeinformasjon: Hordaland fylke, Voss, Mini

Evonne, hello, I do remember communicating with you, I just checked and your g.g.grandparents Styrk Iverson Vike and Kristy Torbjorsdtr. Rene are my 4th cousins 3 times removed. It was fun to read your note below and I went on the site and read about the site and then in the search spot I put in your Evonne 1 and I was lucky enough to see your video. It was very enjoyable to watch and I hope the Travel Channel people take the time to watch it and choose YOU. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is

Hello all, I'm another Voss researcher who keeps an eye and ear tuned to the Vosselag list. There are a number of us out there with varying degrees of interest and activity in researching our Voss roots. It is wonderful to now see increased activity on this site. I encourage further interest and queries from casual watchers. If one of us can't find the answer, it doesn't exist. Darrell Trygstad ----- Original Message ----- From: "Al Askevold" To:
14. Re: [NOR-VOSSELAG] Peter Sampson Een - error in Rene book? [1]
Hi Jean, Thanks for clearing this up. I didn't think that the Herborg shown on page 46 was the correct one. I guess this does certainly confirm that Rene was only "half" correct in indicating that Herborg was Peter's mother. In fact she was his stepmother. You as always are brilliant! Viv
15. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Peter Sampson Een - error in Rene book? [1]
Hi Everyone, The Voss list has been very quiet so I thought I'd wake it up ;o) I have found what I believe to be an error on pg. 384 of the Rene book. It states "Peder Samsonson Een, born on the farm, Een, Voss, son of Samson Pederson Een and wife Herborg Olsdatter Saude. He married at Voss with Sigrid Getlesdatter Nordheim." Naeseth's Norwegian Immigrants to America, Vol. 4, pg 22 indicated that Peder's mother was Britha Nielsdatter. I found Peders baptism record which shows that his mother was Brita h

Hi Viv and Jean, I have ancestors from Saude (Borstrondi) so this is interesting research. Someday I will have to edit the Saude's in my database, I know I have some from both farms. Years ago I changed all the farm names to Saude to make it easier for me, I did have Soue and Saue listed for awhile. Thanks for noting the 1801 census! For some reason I did not enter all of the family in my data. I have the family of Nils Ericksen and Anna Brynjulsdtr. Xvsthus but not the daughters Brita and Ka

Hello Listers: Always wanting information on the families Sandvik and Utne. Sandivk family lives in Voss area. Some Sandvik's moved to state of Washington many years ago. Still believe some Sandvik connections there. Anyone have advice? Like many of you, I too have been a quiet lister for awhile now, but have a wild and crazy request. I've had email from Jean & Vivian I think is distant cousin, but don't know most of you. I always enjoy reading the helpful information sent out. My g.g.grandparents were: Styrk Iverson Vike and Kristy Torbjorsdtr. 21. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Vivian: Himle Photographs [1]
Vivian, I have one or two photographs of Mari Himle as well a few of Esther and Ole Ihland's family. One photograph is the entire Ihland family with the youngest five toddlers in a bit of a blur...can you imagine keeping those five still for a photograph in those days! My goal for this year is to learn how to use photoshop, scan, repair and load photos into an album. Let me know if you would be interested in seeing them before I get that project complete and I will try to make photocopies and mail
22. [NOR-VOSSELAG] Norheim -- Heggebo -- Ølen, Hor daland [1]
Bill and lister, hi, I wanted to see what info there might be on this family which I dont find connected into Voss until the marriage of Sjur Styrkson Reque. In the research I have posted below I find that the Norheim and Heggebo farms here are very likely in the Xlen, Hordaland area. I wish I still had the bygdebok for this area to look at but I let a person have it who had ancestry from it which I didnt. I thought I would put this additional information on the list for reference to anyone who mi
23. Re: [NOR-VOSSELAG] Peter Sampson Een - error in Rene book? [1]
Viv, hi, at least we can say the Rene was 1/2 correct. One thing to keep in mind with the Saude name when you see it. There are several Saude farms in the Voss area. The one I am usually related to is the one down by the Mosafinn farm across from Bulken and the other is over in the area called Borstrandi which is a little ways out of Voss on the road that you would take if you were going to go to Vinje. I had a number of these people in my database and I just went in now and added the 1801 census recor
