1. What happened to NORCAL? [1]
Maybe its the summer heat. I'm off NORCAL for a few days and it sounds like a different list (north/south/water,etc) - and the OHIO list has a guy sending bad jokes.

We are looking for MARY ANN MCADAMS who was hired by Lockheed in California in 1967. She got her masters degree in physics from Texas Woman's University in 1967. After about a year of correspondence, she was transfered to Lockheed in Stanford, California. We lost contact. Thank you for your help. 6. Re: Obituary Web Site [0.959688]
Regarding incompleteness of the Obituary Daily Times -- My understanding is that the information on the site is all contributed by volunteers. Consequently, the completeness for each year is only as good as the efforts by volunteers to get the information on the site. Maybe ODT didn't have any Oakland volunteers at that time! Nevertheless, the site does have thousands of listings -- including many for Californians -- which may be useful to someone. Melissa

8. Re: database question [0.959688]
Ellen As a FileMaker Pro 'heavy' user, I would, of course, vote for YOU setting something up in FileMaker. It is a fully 'searchable' database so, if you use the 'right' fields, you will only need the one database. (Rather than multiples and needing to link or use look-ups...) I have created a family group sheet using FileMaker Pro and like the ability to enter data as I get it. I have also set up another database on my PowerBook for research AWAY from home and the Internet (you know, when you go to a

10. Barker on Alcatraz [0.959688]
Several genealogists helped me with this.... Doc on the Rock: Ripples from the Fall of Arthur Barker A Tale from Colma is now open. Among the features of this site are: * Facts derived from Barker and other Alcatraz prisoner files at the National Archives. * A newly discovered letter from another prisoner to the Warden warning of Barker's escape plans /one year before/ the 1939 breakout in which Barker was killed. * Photos of Alcatraz and major figures in the story including Henry Young (of Murder i
11. Re: Wehrle/May [0.959688]
I could not locate either MAY or WEHRLE in the 1924-25 time frame. However, I DID find an obituary on the Orville MAY who died in 1975. Obit was in the Santa Cruz Sentinel Mar 16 1975 and it is interesting - his age does match up with your person fairly closely. He is Oriville A. MAY, native of IA - okay, that doesn't fit but he is 89, not too far off in time. Originally moved to Santa Cruz in 1910 - not too promising here. Lived in Spreckles and Burlingame - employed as station master for Souther Paci

Paul, Have a family tree of Juan Francisco Bernal (1737) & his wife Maria Josefa Soto. Also have pictures of both, Agostin Bernal (Scary) and a family collage (can't spell thatword!). It's all in "The Amador-Livermore Valley, A Pictorial History" by Bob & Pat Lane. The index for BERNAL reads as follows: Bernal, Agostin, 11,12,12,24,134 , Francisco, 16 , Guadalupe, 15 , Jose Agostin, 16 , Juan francisco, 16 , Jose Joaquin, 15, 16 , Josephine, 206 , Juan Pablo, 11, 15, 16, 18 , Maria Refugia A
13. Re: Hodges Obituaries - Centerville California [0.959688]
Centerville/Fremont had two newspapers at the time providing coverage: The Hayward Daily Review The Fremont Argus Both would likely have the obit. The Oakland Trib wouldn't or it would be abbreviated. Jim On Mon, 28 Jul 1997 ConPutnam@aol.com wrote: > Sandra! I have seen requests for information on the surname MICHEL before and so am posting this to the group. I have a copy of an obit for a MICHEL in San Fransisco, it goes as follows: MICHEL-In this city, Nov. 25, 1930, Elizabeth Michel beloved mother of Katherine Tallon, Marguerite Moon, Minnie Granz and Elsie Eades and the late Frederick and Edward Michel and Elizabeth Freund; a native of Germany, aged 85 years. Linda--I'm not quite sure what you want. I can't get a birth date from the CADI.. Have you tried http://www.compuology.com/cagenweb, then go to whichever county you want. You might get some idea as to what birth records are available if you know the county. What do you need about George Jr? Where did he die, do you know--and about when? Hi Cheryl, That's O.K.! I've got Walter Smith (my Granddad) and although he didn't drink, his antics with the women and his grumbling at everyone else made him a real piece of work. He even managed to get kicked out of ASCAP (Amer. Soc of Composers & Producers), not a buncha boy scouts. But back to business! Yes, there are microfilmed newspapers for Petaluma for that time and earlier. I have copied obits from them at the library in Petaluma, which is right next to the fair grounds. I don't know who else has the microfilm. You might try the Sonoma Co. WebPage; maybe someone can help you there.
25. Re: Separation of Northern & Souther [0.959688]
The water from our Northern Ca. mountains flows into several rivers, the Merced, Tuolumne, Stanislaus, etc. and then into the San Joaquin. Some is diverted into the Delta Mendota Canal system which carries water to Southern Ca. It is a little more complicated than that, but you get the idea. By Delta, they are referring to the river delta out of Stockton, Ca. Colleen
