6. The elusive Richard LING [1]
Hello everyone, We have a brick wall we're hoping someone can help with. This brick goes by the name of Richard LING. Originally we thought he might be from Shropshire or London but those don't seem to be panning out. On advice from others, I've turned my quest to these lists. Here's what we know... Name: Richard LING Born: 1831-ish (he listed 1828 on a city directory in Canada) in England. No city/county known. Married: Elizabeth. Date unknown but likely mid 1860's. 7. OXLEY [1]
Hi all, Having learned recently that my Pullyn forebears were Quakers I am now on a search for Martha OXLEY daughter of James OXLEY. Martha was my gg grandmother and the wife of NICHOLAS PULLYN of Beccles. I have not much information on Martha but now know that she died in 1868 aged 57. According to my maths that means she was born about 1811 (I am assuming that Nicholas would have been the one to have registered her death and to have hopefully known how old she was, although not guaranteed). I have been go

Hello Iris It depends on whether you mean history books or social history books. I love the social history books because it gives you an idea of our ancestors' daily lives. The following is a short list of those I have read & enjoyed and had the sense to keep a record of. Unfortunately, most of them went unrecorded. The Old Stories by Kevin Crossley Holland - folk tales of East Anglia ISBN 0 905899 51 2 Norfolk Life and A Norfolk Notebook both by Lilias Ryder Haggard, about 1930s Norfolk rural li

Hello Janice and Listers (FYI - Nambour, Queensland FHC used to ask for a donation when you sign in.) The registration numbers for the marriage and the children are listed for you below, within asterisks, in case you did not have these. Note the return to the Brisbane area around 1880. There was a deceased female child recorded for a John and Mary but we could not presume she belongs to them. My sources of reference have been the Queensland Pioneers Index 1829-1889 and the LDS Second Edition British Vit

I totally endorse the comments of others ref. Paddy Aplings site. I found a NURSE entry there for the 1891 census - requested the entry from Pat and had a nice reply even though I had a typo and asked for 1841.
