Rob, One branch of the Lake family used to live at Itteringham House (in Itteringham!), which as you know is not a million miles from Oulton. There are some photos of Arthur Thomas Lake and his wife along with two wedding party photos on the families page of www.itteringham.com . I can also put you in touch with Richard Lake who is still living and working locally (if you haven't already found him?) 13. Money lender. [1]
--=======105F6CCD======= Content-Type: text/plain; x-avg-checked=avg-ok-12F2A9E; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Hell All, I recently came across an interesting occupation on the 1881 Census for a lady ancestor. She was defined as, "Interest of money" under her occupation. I assume that this meant she was a moneylender, or, alternatively, was living off the interest on a bequest, can anyone shed any further light on this? 14. Norfolk traditions [1]
Rob the Hermit decries the lack of Norfolk traditions, and mentions the revived morris etc teams. Is he aware that Norfolk had it's very own style of dancing, common to the other Fen counties(esp. Cambridgeshire) called Molly dancing-only found in East Anglia? In fact the last true "gang" of Molly Dancers was observed dancing on Plough Monday at Little Downham, Norfolk in 1933. Norwich's molly dancers were called the Shitwitches, as is the revival group that base their performance on the written records th
15. Re: Storing newspaper cuttinigs [1]
Thanks to all who replied to my query about storing newspaper cuttings. I have taken all the comments on board, and know to keep the sticky stuff well away. With regard to the "dangerous" photos: 1) What sort of time period are we talking about 2) Slightly confused - is it the photo or the negative. (reason for question - I have one photo which has a rather peculiar sheen to it) Kind regards, Lynda Smith

21. Family history info - how do you organise it? [1]
I'm curious as to how other family historians record the data they find - and how they put out the organised information either for themselves, for family or to the world at large. I'd be happy to hear of other people's practice as, although I've been at it for the best part of 20 years, there's always scope for hearing about good ideas. Here's what I do, in brief: 1. Every single piece of new information I find out - census records, certificate data, emailed data, etc. - is recorded sequentially, in writi

25. NEALE - BIRTH CERT. [1]
To everyone who offered me help with the problem I had trying to get a Birth Certificate from the FRC for my Grandmother Rosa NEALE - I am sure you will all be happy to know that North Walsham have come up trumps. I still don't know what the problem was with the FRC. It confirmed some details I already knew but I was surprised to learn that Rosa was actually born in the Smallburgh Workhouse, November 1879. No father's name given so that was a disappointment. The family lived in Ashmanhaugh. Is anyone
