I am searching for information on Franklin Moses NORMAN who married Nancy
Ann (Elizabeth?) WATSON. Both Frank and Nannie was born about 1858.
Frank in North Carolina and Nannie in Virginia. They appear on the 11910

Can anyone help me?

Hi all:
In Barbara B. Hubbs book, Pioneer Folks and Places, she states that in 1851
a NORMAN and a IRWIN had a general store in Crab Orchard Illinois.
Was that Francis Marion Norman, father of Henry William Norman, who later
married Harriet Groves? And who was the Irwin.

I have been reviewing the 1830 & 1832 Census of Anderson County TN, Clinton
Township. The 1832 Census is the same but shows that the county is then
called Clinton County, Clinton Township.
I found the following Normans in both census reports: Hiram, Isaac, Eli,
Henry, William, Wilson and Aaron. These records just listed the heads of the
household and a page number, does anyone know where we can get the full
report?

In reviewing the data on Henry Norman - Ruth Norman Abney connection, I
have a few questions.
1. The pension documents that Ruth submitted on her husband Paul Abney
do contain letters written by Henry Norman, but there wasn't a
relationship listed that I have seen. Henry did know Ruth and Paul and
was present at their wedding. One could assume the family relationship,
but assumptions are not facts. Could someone correct me on this?
2. I don't believe that our Henry was Henry B. (Bennett). The Henry
I wanted to post my Norman line hoping for any input. I am particularly

Hi all:
I especially like Karen Piper's letter where she brings up a lot of thought
provoking questions on Henry Norman.
I have nothing to tie Henry to a Ruth Abney as yet, and I too list him
simply as Henry Norman because the middle initial B has not been confirmed
to me yet. I have his wife simply as Ruth A.? because that is what my
grandmother had from way back in the 1930s. But that too could be an error.
It is correct that the 1840 Williamson Co.Census was Henry was 60-70 and
wife was 70-80 years ol

Bill brings up a good suggestion on documentation. In the records that we
received from Rhoda's fight for the pension of Paul Abney/Abner there is
definate proof of our Henry being her brother. But I don't remember him
being referred to as Henry B. Norman in those many documents. Eli's records
indicate that Rhoda, Issac etc. and Henry went to Williamson County. So I am
fairly certain that Henry and Rhoda were siblings.
I am in contact with the RR Abney site that I mentioned yesterday, and they

Here is some information on Rhoda Norman, who married Paul Abney. She is the
sister of our Henry Norman as the pension papers previously shared prove.
ABNER Families
It is common knowledge that many ABNEY families began using the surname
"ABNER". Why? We have some clues. An obvious conclusion is the fact that
when spoken, they are very close. The author has been called ABNER many
times. Another reason could be the written Abney looks much like the written

Hello,
According to Ray's Index to Hathaways North Carolina Historical and
Genealogical Register (1900), a Henry Norman lived on the west side of
Scupernong about 1711. He was a member of a jury in 1702. His wife was
Anne and in 1700 they had a daughter Mary. Another Henry 97 years later
left a will in Tyrrell County and named wife Sarah and friend Fanny Ray with
James Blount as witness. So much for the Normans on the east coast of NC. I
find no other information at this time. They were far removed

If "our" Henry were born in 1773 then he would have been 82 or thereabouts
in 1855. Was there another Henry Norman in Williamson County about this
period? James Norman settled Henry's estate in 1848? I confused.... isn't
that the state of mind for all genealogy researchers?
Is there anyone out there that knows where Henry is buried?

I just read an article in the Orange County Register. California just passed
a law allowing the spreading of cremated remains. According to this article,
California had been the only state that prohibited such disposition of
creamated remains.
The point I guess that I am trying to make, in genealogy we hit a lot of
brick walls because we can't find headstones in cemeteries. What will this
modern day disposal do to future generations? I can only hope that our work
will leave paper or electronic records for
