What you describe is that Ole Olsen moved to Nernes and married a daughter on the farm, and lived there. Then they of course l

Hi Torun, Is it possible that David Thoen has an e-mail address? I couldn't find an email address for him and I've been trying to call him for a week but all I get is his answering machine. He may be a snowbird and out of town for the winter. Daraleen
3. Re: RENVILLE COUNTY & RENVILLE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY Sacred Heart [1]
At least one of the "reformed church denominations" in America joined a 1960s merger with the Congregationalists to form what is now called the United Church of Christ. The Presbyterians planned to join the merger, too, but did not because of doctrinal differences. Jon Raymond St. Paul Park, MN http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~raymond

Members of Sigdalslag who did not receive the February 2004 issue of the Saga are asked to contact the editor. The post office returned ten issues with no address labels. Apparently postal machines stripped the labels and there is no way of telling who the intended recipients were.

:-) Ok, now, Luanne, I'll admit to you that my ggrandfather, Hans Martin Halvorsen in Drammen, became Martin Martin in New Jersey! I know a lot of immigrants changed their names -- or had them changed (and the spellings) -- but Martin Martin is just a bit much, don't you think? Erik I suggest you write to the Area Reserach Center at River Falls Wisconsin. http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/libraryarchives/arcnet/riverfls.asp They have cemetery transcriptions for the Spring Valley area cemeteries as well as ones around Wilson. If the family moved to Dunn county you would need to contact the ARC at Menomonie. I have microfilmed church records from one congregation of the Woodville area (just west of Wilson). I will check for your names when I go to the Family History center nex

Why did you think I would have fun with this? It seems to me that if a headless ghost in a boat comes anywhere near me, I will immediately die. Right then and there I will keel over dead. As a cause of death, therefore, it seems quite reasonable to me. Even without the boat, a headless gho

Hi Siv, I am not sure if Andreas and Marguretta Bersagel are part of this family, but if they are, let me know and I'll attempt to get further information about them for you. They were close friends of my grandparents during the period 1915-1920 when he was pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Atlantic Street in Elizabeth, NJ. During that period, they had their Sunday dinner each week at my grandparents home and were regarded as part of their extended family. In 1920, Pastor Bersagel accepted a call t

Please, when you ask for translation, give the context of the words! There are so many synonyms and idiomatic expressions, so a translation of words out of context is often guesswork. Also, the context may help sort out spelling mistakes and misreadings. Ingrid ----- Original Message ----- > Hi: > > I'm stumped once again. Hi, The reason why I subscribed to this list was to gather information about norwegian WWI veterans. I do however from time to time read other discussions. Lately I have been really impressed by how the list works. A lot of knowledge on this list - really! So I have decided to give it a try myself;-). My grandmother told me a story a long time ago about her father that was born in Cloquet, Duluth, Minnesota(?). His mother again died giving birth to my great grandfather. The family story is that my great
