Dear Phyllis, After you make the paste (or dough), refrigerate it for one hour and then you may form it into whatever shape you want. Sounds like you're free to add coloring to it, if you prefer. You're only limited by your imagination. Christmas...marzipan pigs...I can't see the correlation but whatever works for you. Obviously, whoever came up with the idea gave birth to a tradition, somehow. They don't really appeal to me but guess I shouldn't knock it before I try it. Please let me know if you try

Ole: Thanks! You are filling in some blanks. According to the 1801 Census for Modum there is at Stensrud farm a Lars-Peter Jernberg, 16 years and his mother Malene Larsdatter, 45 years, 2 times a widow. However your discovery of Else Kristine is new and Miner Lars Svendsson Fernberg must have been her husband who died and one of her two deceased husbands. So I have my work cut out for me. At long last, I have the results from my lookups in the Finley History book for you. First, for those of you who want to record your sources properly, the name of the book is: Finley 75th Diamond Jubilee 1897-1972. It was published in 1972, but there is no editor or publisher named. The closest I could come was that Mrs. Russell Devlin was the Chairman of the History, Biography and Alumni Committee.
