Who knows why they changed the names! I just found out my GGrandfather's name is Johanne Christophersson. The book Fedje kommune printed said it was Kristoffersen as well as the application for a Social Security card of my Grandfathers! I never would have found it on my own! 3. Ahnentafel question [1]
Is there a family tree program that makes an ancestor ahnentafel pedigree with the siblings of each generation listed? Dan Haglund's website has such a looking ahnentafel, but he custom built this. http://www.nwpress.com/haglund/jonh.htm Interestingly, his mother is related to my father, going back to Oppland; and his father is related to my mother, going back to Vest-Agder. That has to be rare! Thanks, Tim ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a pe

10. Does anyone have a Bygdebok for Halden? [1]
Hi All, Would SKS have a bygdebok covering the Halden area, if so would you mind doing a lookup for me please. I would like to know if Charl Augustus Svendsen and his wife Laata ever had a son with the first name of Herman who would have been born around 1875. I am not sure what other information is required for a lookup in a Bygdebok so please let me know if I need to provide more info, not that I have a lot more to give. Hi" I wrote to Erik Tondevold about the von Krogh and Munthe's. He and I have corresponded for a while now. My family is closely related to the Munthe family. I have an ancestor Krogh without the von who was Bishop of Nidaros Cathedral. I think that he was in the ship salvaging business also. His mother was Cecelia Blichfeldt. He was born 8-4-1654 in Aarhus, Denmark His father was Magistrate Niels Krogh. He married Cecelia Pedersdatter Blichfeldt. He died 24-5-1731. If you have any information on t

When I was growing up in Minneapolis, Swedes and Norwegians told the same jokes and had the same names to call each other. I was told it was all in fun and not to take it seriously. The same Sven and Ole-type jokes were turned back and forth, depending on whether the teller was Norwegian or Swedish. My Norwegian grandfather lived with us in his old age and loved to tell these stories and read the cartoon in the Norwegian newspaper (Decorah-Posten?). My mother joked that she was a "square-head."
