1. [NVLANDER] Tonopah Cemetery (Nye County) now online [1]
During a recent trip between Reno and Las Vegas, I stopped by and photo'd about 250 tombstones in the Tonopah Cemetery. This is only a small part of this cemetery, which is one of two in Tonopah, Nevada. Tonopah is located about the center of Nevada and is on the main highway between Reno and Las Vegas. I encourage anyone who has photos of this cemetery to contact me to arrange for posting to this new page. Hopefully, this will assist those of you who are doing research in this area. Tonopah was founde

This cemetery is one of two in Winnemucca, and is now a shrine to Winnemucca's pioneers. You can view the pages at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/Nevada/nevada.html Select Humboldt County, then scroll down to Pioneer Cemetery. Gerry Perry, Manager Nevada Tombstone Project
4. [NVLANDER] Lyon County, Nevada picture additions [1]
Dr. Linda Clements donated her pictures of the historic Dayton (Lyon County) Cemetery. Included in this historic cemetery is the final resting place of James Finney, known as "Old Virginny". He was so revered that the Comstock miners named Virginia City after him. Linda's pictures convey the early history of this mining community which produced much of the nation's valuable minerals such as gold and silver. Dayton is one of the first communities in Nevada, having been settled in 1851. Many thanks to Li
