I was browsing thru e-bay and found some wonderful books for sale in
regard to family names in Ireland. For anyone interested try either
e-bay and put in search "Irish books" or try irishroots.com
I order one of the books advertised for families in Clare as it listed
a family name I have been trying to match to a particular area in cork
or Clare. I received the book 10 days after purchasing, and was quite
surprised by the promptness of them sending it, and also with the
ability to find the name I sea

around a name that is entirely different than the one I am used to :-) But
I certainly will try those and see what comes up. Thank you for the info.

My Irish gr-gr-grandmother is a puzzlement to us searching for her. Her
name as we know it is Jane Kennedy b 1818 suppose to have been Co Cork
Ireland. Well she wound up in Scotland in 1840's when she showed up in
marriage records to Samuel Anderson. The came to America aboard the

directly into the Irish settlements of NYC so we have been told. Her name
might have been Margaret/Mary and the Jane might have been Jennie and

This site, with Photos of the exterior and interior of several churches in N.Y.C. will probably be helpful to those who do not live near enough to visit a church where an ancestor was baptized. It has a limited number but very good photographs.

husband as John, though everywhere else he is called Michael. The informant knew
almost nothing of his grandparents, but was not the sort to admit to ignorance.
One of her daughters, probably named Honora, but changed the so-Irish
sounding 'Nora' to Elinore when she married into a prosperous and Germa
