story or legend re: twin girls born in Rochester, NY, March 1942, Rochester
General Hospital who were relinquished for adoption? I have been searching
for 4 yrs for some kind of medical and heritage answers and have obtained
only sketchy info. Our birth mother was 25 at time of birth, in food
service/dietician. We were blessed to have been placed with our adoptive
parents. We have no desire to interfere in anyone's life. My d

I am new to the list. I have been doing a lot of genealogy and family history research.
My elderly aunt has just entered a nursing home and I have been cleaning up her home in preparation for selling it. I found a "Walter Scott Medal" amongst her papers and keepsakes. The inscription is as follows:

I got interested in reading about the Poorhouses in Warren and Essex
Counties after reading an article in the December 2000 issue of Adirondack
Life magazine called, "Hard Times Come Again No More." It mentions several
of the poorhouses in and around Warren and Essex County. There are pictures
of ones in ESSEX County, WARREN County, and FRANKLIN County in the article.
Thanks.
