List members,
I have been trying to get records about my uncle's war service from the
National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. They require that you be a
next of kin. In a letter, I pointed out to them that he died in 1946, never
married and his parents and siblings are all dead (which I can document).
Thus, based on their requirements, nobody can ever get information on him.
They ignored this and just replied that nephews aren't entitled to
information.
Can anyone suggest what I should d
Fellow Listers --
I have a scan of a photo taken at Culp's Hill, Gettysburg battlefield,
showing a reunion of veterans of Greene's Brigade (60th, 78th, 102d,
137th, & 149th NYSV). So far, I haven't been able to figure out a
date for the photo. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly
appreciated. The image can be viewed at:

Captain Seth Perry shows up as Saratoga in the 1810 census with also the
possibility of Tioga Cayuga, Jefferson Counties, but it leans heavily
towards Saratoga. There were 1940 showing enlisted in Lt. Colonel John
Perry's Regiment.
The 4 majors listed were from Schoharie(1), Montgomery(2),Washington
County(1). 22 Captains. Delaware(3); Schoharie(4);
Montgomery(3);Saratoga(6);Misc(6)
There was also a Captain Josiah Perry, and Captain Seth Perry Jr. all appear
to be from Saratoga.

I have tried so far with no luck to get a copy of my grandfather's WWI draft
registration from NARA, East Point, GA. I have his registration

is his name, address. precinct, county and state. My question regards the
meaning of the word "precinct" in the context of this card. I'm almost
certain it is not the draft board number. Does anyone know or have an

According to the NARA site
(http://www.archives.gov/facilities/mo/st_louis/military_personnel_recor
ds/standard_form_180.html), you must use SF180 if you are not
next-of-kin. There is no indication of what records are available to
non-next-of-kin.
Note that most WWII service records were destroyed in a 1973 fire but
parts can be reconstructed.

Found a John Prior in Saratoga listed in the Town of Greenfield in Saratoga
in the correct time frame, but don't know if he is the Colonel John Prior as
the listing for him is prior to 1812. The Perry name is listed as an early
settler in the Town of Day in Saratoga County in early 1800, but no given
names were listed.
