There are a few places I'd look. The NYS Archives has film of a series A0389 [the second character is a zero] that was done right at the end of the war. It is in 3 parts- soldiers that died, soldiers that served, and soldiers that are still in service. From there it is arranged geographically by county & town. Just one week after deserting the De Meuron's, on September 9, 1813 Charles enlisted as a Private in the U.S. 2nd Light Dragoons at Burlington, Vermont. Thank goodness we don't dismantle the Army in between wars. If I were a father the Army life would look much better when there was *no* war on. It is steady pay & the job hold
