Hi Bryan,
I know of a book that might have your guy listed. It is called "Military
Minutes of the Council of Appointment of the State of New York, 1783-1821",
Compiled and Edited by Hugh Hastings, State Historian 1901. Published by the
State of New York. It is a 3 volume publication, including the index volume.
If your local library doesn't have it you may be able to arrange for an
inter-library loan. Hope this helps.

Does the Army have records I could trace into? For instance I am looking
for William M. Dietrich, who was discharged at the Separation Center in
Fort Dix
New Jesey on November 16, 1945, after serving w/the HQ CO 1st 186th
Infantry.
How can I find this guy? Am I missing pertinent information? thanks.
Dear Friends ~
Can someone answer as to what Associated Exempts mean concerning a John
Chamberlain of the Dutchess Co Militia Regiment listed under Capt. Abraham
Schenk, on page 154 of NY in the Revolution Vol. 1, Dutchess Co Militia,
Regiment of Minute men?
He is listed as an enlisted man, but I can't seem to understand what this
means. Does this mean they were exempt from serving any longer, and why was
that?
I also found another John Chamberlain listed under Col. Lewis Dubois( or
duboy)[sic]
He was li
Have you gotten their military service records from the National Archives?
That should tell which units they were in. They would also have a pension
file if the soldier or a dependent applied for one. The NY State Archives
should also have their pay records, which would list their units.

I've just discovered that Peter BILLINGTON served in the 157 Regiment, NY
Militia in the War of 1812. Can anyone tell me where I can find out the area
of NY that men in that regiment came from? Any help would be much
appreciated!

Hi Cindy, just be chance if you know where he lived after the war you could
check the county clerk/town clerks office for his honorable discharge
records, most veterans filed them upon returning home. In most cases they
have the records predating WW1 and for family members my county (Orange) does
not even charge a fee. Glenn

I would like to see if my ancestor Aaron Case/Cass, or his son Josiah, was
enrolled in the Dryden Company of the Cayuga Regiment, part of Gen. Wadsworth's
Brigade. Aaron died while crossing the river at the Battle of Queenston
Heights. Any help would certainly be appreciated! I've been looking for this
information for a LONG TIME. :-)
Thanks,

Hello Fellow Researchers,
I am hoping someone knows of these people and can tell me if any of them
served in a war, so the proper markers can be placed on their graves at the
First Reformed (Dutch) Church cemetery in Fishkill, NY.
As my son has been working on recording every headstone, we have come across
these men and wonder if they may be eligible for recognition.
Part of his Eagle Scout Project is to try to determine if there are any
veterans in need of plaques and flags on Memorial Day, as NONE
My ancestor, Lawrence TRAVIS (Trevis-Travers) served in the 144th NY

David Gordon's Company of NY Detached Militia in the Regiment
commanded by Lt. Colonel David Rogers. The service was described as
the Brooklyn Encampment.
Can anyone tell me anything about this Brooklyn Encampment or about
these military units o
James Stuart VEDDER enlisted in New York (Probably Schenectady) for the
Civil War.
He was in Co. F., 12th Infantry. Is anyone researching this soldier? He
applied for
a pension and was living in Texas.
Thanks, Bob! I will look for the book. We'll track this guy down yet! :-)

Two of my 2g-grandfathers served in the same company in the Civil War and I
