I am researching a John McIntosh who was a resident in Bethlehem New York.
He appears in the 1790 and the 1800 federal censuses and then disappears.
I recently got a lead that my man had a farm at Bethlehem on which he paid
a rent fee. From this I would assume that his land was lease land from
Rensselaerwyck Manor and not free hold.
I am unsure whether I should research in the New York Archives
(manuscripts & special collection division) where the manourial records
are held or use the property records
I was in communication with Anne Johnson until the end of March, at which
time, to my perception at least, she dropped from sight. If anyone has
been in contact with her, I would like to know. Anne, if you are out
there, please drop me a line. I have found some really interesting
information on the family of John KEENAN, whaling master, who lived in West
Troy. It builds on the wonderful information you found for me.

Searching for information on a Jacob Willsey/Wilsey/Wiltse who may have
died of small pox, this according to an entry in Isaac Post's Diary for
June 12, 1830, Susquehanna Co., PA.
This Jacob is believed to be from New York.
"Montrose Hist. Society Diary of Isaac Post: June 12, 1830; sent Henry &
George Scott to dig grave for Jacob as he died this morning with smallpox
or some other disease equally as bad."
Can any one advise which Willsey/Wilsey/Wiltse or other family that this
Jacob came from!

Phil,
Thanks for the offer re Wilsey book. Which I also have, plus parts of some
more. There are too many errors to put one's full faith into it. Plus,
what the book says on Jacob has never been proven, and it was given as pure
speculation as my sister knew the individual who presented that information
and the author of the book did not mention that fact. So, one just cannot
believe all that is written there. I use the book as just a starting point
to see where it leads me. I think that the only book
Hi Kim:
Nobody has touched this. My PC caught a cold, I just got it back. My 2 1/2
month old motherboard crashed at the same time, so my e-mail might have filled
up.
Is there a census before 1855 for Albany N.Y.?? I just found out
that Edward Cutts Townsend was married in 1838 in England, and he left two
sons in England, and came over here a widower. So far I had too many years
to look for a passenger list until now, but maybe ten years is to many
also?????
Thanks Kim for any help, and
Thanks for the address of the seventh day Baptists

There are a few Adjutants reports, but the ones I'm familiar with were
arranged by county, then by town, (and run about 40-50 volumes) and
weren't even alphabetized within the towns.

This would sure make life easier-- How are the volumes divided? By
Regiment or Geographic area?

Can't help you with this, but just an 'aside'....I have four little diaries
written by a great aunt in Albany during the years 1886 thru 89...she and
her father were very active volunteers with establishing the Salvation Army
there.....she refers to a Capt. Snell nearly daily during one year,
apparently they became very good friends....and tenants in their upstairs
for a short time.......
