Catherine,
I don't have access to burial records. Please consult my Guide to learn how to get information from local Catholic cemeteries or the two largest non-Catholic cemeteries. It sounds like you don't know where they are buried. If so, you have a problem. For an approximate place of death, you could search the online Social Security records. They may have both collected SS. There are also many links from my website to online Albany Co. and Greene Co. cemetery records that you could investigate.
I have a book published in 1848 which my GGgrandfather, Carlos Rollin
Billings, gave to his betrothed, Annie I (or L) Eddy. On the page with the
inscription is a booksellers mark, a small embossed circle with a book in
the middle. Using a magnifying glass I can read "From " at the top and
"Bradley's" at the bottom. My gg was also a bookseller. Doe anyone know of
this bookstore or how I could find out about it.....?
Thanks
MAE
Cliff,
Do you know what religious affiliation the people
buried in Grove Cemetary, Coeymans, NY was? I have
family buried there. They were scotch-irish. Did these
people go to one church that was in the area?
Thanks, Lisa Marin

Forget about looking for a naturalization for any females, they were not
important enough to be mentioned even in census records other than a line in
a box and there was no naturalizations for them only through a male member
of the family. We have come a long way.

Hi Dick:
I have your Philip Schuyler in detail. He can be found in The Schuyler
genealogy prepared by Florence Christoph in conjunction with the General
Philip Schuyler State Historical site in Albany. This is the city home of
General Schuyler. Your Philip is treated as another Schuyler apparently not
related to the General. Can you give me what you have back to Philip. I can
scan the narrative and first page or two. There are several pages in a
loose-leaf Binder there are 31 pages of descendants of
Cliff,
Great site! I did notice that there is a graphic in your opening page that has apparently come unlinked and your link to GNIS under cemeteries doesn't go to the correct place. They are a real pain in the tail because it seems like USGS moves there geographic name server periodically for very little reason. The whole idea of a url is to create a way to be able to change the numeric address of a server or servers without impacting the links involved. Your just register the new address and over night wh

Lisa,
There are two different cemeteries there in the same place, but they are
separate. Grove Cemetery is non-denominational. St. Patricks is Catholic.
From what I understand, the people at St. Patricks office are very helpful.
I think I can get the address and phone number for St. Patricks you if you'd

Can anyone on the list check the 1850 Albany County Census for :
John Hartnett or Hartness or Heartness (I find the name spelled differently
in early records)
John was born in Ireland, but I don't have a year.
I believe that his wife was Ellen, also born in Ireland.
In 1855, an Ellen Hartnett, 50 b. Ireland, widow, is found in Greenwich,
Washington County, NY living in the William Lambert household, as a
sister-in-law. The wife of William Lambert was Hannah Hartnett born in
Ireland.

Cliff, Is that Oakwood Cemetery the one in Troy, Rensselaer Co. New York?
If it is is there a way to also have a list of the persons who have been
cremated and whos remains are kept under the chapel? I know one or two who
are there and I know there must be many more.
And there must be other cemeteries that have Crematoriums in the surrounding
Counties and have vaults with the remains of many of our departed loved
ones. They do not have a headstone on the grounds.
Thank you for any information on this.

Does anyone have any information on a family by this name in the Albany
area circa
1770-1790?
I have an Irish ancestor, Thomas RYAN, who was with the British Marines
prior to, and during the Am-Rev. Family lore says that he married
Harriet Redacher (or similar surname) in the Albany area; by 1800 they
had 5 children and were living near St.Johns, Quebec; Thomas had retired
from the marines (by this time renamed the Provincial Marine Corp).
I'd like to substantiate the origins of the Redacher family and

I have posted two versions. You can look for the 565 names alphabetically or by family plot.

I have the following photos from the earlier 1900's that belonged to my

If you are a direct descendant of any of these people please contact me via

I am trying to find information on the Angus family. My great great
grandfather was John Daniel Angus. He was born in Albany NY in 1813. His
fathers name was William and his mother's maiden name was Melinda Hart. She

Nor do I have any immigration information for the family other than they came
from Scotland somewhere along the line. Can anyone help me at all? Barbara

There's no office at the cemetery, but the caretaker can be contacted. Off
hand, I don't know who it is or what his phone number is but I can ask, or
they should have his number at the parish. The same person takes care of
both cemeteries.
