Hello All,
Can anyone check and see if there is anything written on this tragedy? I am
asking for a friend who is searching for all of his ancestors.
Thank you!
Marie

Would you be able to find something more about the drowning of my cousin
Cornelius F. Buys ?
He drowned at the foot of 42nd ST, Brooklyn about July 29, 1889.
HI Andrea,
I have already worked with the staff there in my research. They were very
kind and accomodating.

I am seeking information on Reuben l Cornell,Lester Cornell and Jennie (Mein) Cornell around 1900 in the Eastern District of New York.Reuben was a member of the 14th regiment for 30+ years and a letter carrier for the same time frame.
He appears to have been active in the Brooklyn Wheelmens bicycle club(no longer active per Google search) and the Brooklyn Athletic Association(also defunct)
also seeking relation of his to the Hoseus(or Hoeseus)family,4 or 5 of whom are mentioned in an article in the Bklyn
To All:
This is off-topic, but I'm so excited I had to share it!
My sole reason for starting gen. work has been to find my great grandmother, ANNA. She used two different maiden names on different documents (yes, they are both her). She used SHAPIRO and she used HERRITT.
SHAPIRO pre-dates HERRITT, and SHAPIRO is the more believable one. We have always thought she hid her Judaism at the time of her 2nd marriage to WILLIAM SCHOENHUT.
She claims to have married a FRED SMITH sometime before 1914, bu

Hi all,
The SSDI on rootsweb lists a zip code (11227) for Brooklyn which, according
to the US postal site, does not exist. Anyone know if there is a source that
lists locations associated with zip codes no longer in use?

Does anybody know how I can find out where Vincent Wagner is buried? He died in Sep. 1986 in Brooklyn. He was Catholic. I contacted Holy Cross Cemetery on the phone and they were nice enough to tell me he wasn't buried there. They told me to call Catholic Cemeteries of Brooklyn, where I was told to put it in writing. I did, I received a form letter today saying I had to include $75.00 for genealogical requests, and it would take 4 to 6 weeks. I don't have 4 to 6 weeks, since it took them a
Maybe the volunteers at the Cecil County, Maryland Historical Society would be able to find marriage records for Elkton. Their web page at http://cchistory.org/page10.html says they will do lookups. The phone number listed is 410-398-1790 and the email address is listed as history@cchistory.org

I went to school at the U of Delaware in Newark, only about 7 miles from Elkton, so I'm very familiar with it as a one-time 'Gretna Green'. I also lived for 25 years in Greenwich, CT, which at one time was another 'Gretna Green' even closer to NY. Lucille Ball and Desi eloped to Greenwich in 1940 to be married. All of these places are right on state lines or political boundaries, the first one having been just over the Scots border from England in a hamlet called, you guessed it, "Gretna Green." I was back
