1. Holy Cross, Brooklyn [1]
Happy New Year to you all. I am new to this list, although I have spent time going through the archives searching for information. I have recently found out that my gr gr grandfather is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery. I phoned them and they were very helpful, now I have the location of his grave but as it is from 1868 they couldn't tell me if there was a memorial stone or not. I would dearly love to find out if there is a tombstone or memorial. Does anyone on this list have any ideas how I could try and f

3. Re: [Bklyn] Declarations of Intent to Naturalize for brothers James (in "Superior Court" - New York County) and for & John Begley (City Court - Brooklyn, NY)?? [1]
Jean: I have sent for a number of these. The most I ever found of value was an address and a witness. If you do send for it get all the ones you are interested in at the same time. Apparently the fee is the same; at least it was for me. Joan, I haven't researched the link attached, but maybe it can help you. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywestch/towns/westches.htm#others as well as this link http://home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/CatholicUS-NewYorkNY.htm You need to find out what Diocese, whether it's Brooklyn, etc. is in charge or was in charge of the Bronx, Westchester and surrounding areas. Do you know the exact name of the town, was it Westchester? Eastchester? Etc. Susan -----Original Message----- From: Plantinga@aol.com [mailto:Plan

11. hand writting problem [1]
I'm trying to read the Place of Death entry on a 1903 death certificate for a person who died in Brooklyn. It appears to say 483-1/2 Kisiosko St. but I can find no such Street in my current map of Brooklyn. I know there is a Kosciusko St. but it is in NYC not Brooklyn. Does anyone know of such a street existed in the early 1900s? The first letter, K is clear and the last three letters, oko are also clear. Kevin
12. Rubin Naturalization [1]
I sent for a copy of a naturalization of Kate Rubin, but she is not mine! She arrived 3/30/1910 from Lithuania with the name Keile Borodistzky. She was born 1/15/1894. Married Abraham 4/22/1916 in NY. Children are Gustave, Sylvia, Frances. If this is someone's family, I will send it to you. Kim

14. AOL PROBLEMS [1]
Hi, I emailed AOL this morning and did not get a satisfactory answer. All they said, after twenty five minutes, was that AOL was blocked. This is a ridiculous situation. The only mailing lists I'm on are rootsweb and if I can't get them on AOL I'll go somewhere else. Rita

17. Re: Email Answers [1]
The problem here is that AOL doesn't want to work well with others, they want others to comply with their stuff instead. This has been a problem since I have been a part of rootsweb, I joined USGenweb back in 1996 so I know it has been a problem since at least 1996. We get straight with AOL and a month or 2 later we start getting our mail lost again. 18. AOL Phone scam [1]
I received a phone call yesterday from a woman claiming to be from AOL stating my account was in arrears two months. She asked me to verify my home address and then said she would take my account info over the phone. I gave her my credit card number and when my card statement arrived last night I had been billed. I wrote AOL and they told me to disregard the call as my account was up to date. I have no recourse but to close the card account and transfer to another service. AOL did not comme

I have never bought anything off ebay and I got one of these. I figured it must be a scam. If and when I ever do decide to use Ebay, if it is a problem, I'll worry about it then, I figured. I am ALWAYS getting the Paypal scams, and I have never used it. I just delete them. 23. RE: [Bklyn] Bakery in Brooklyn Look up Please [1]
The Bakery I am looking for probably was sold or went out of business on or before 1920 when Max Frey the owner and primary baker died. I do know that Anna Stormer Frey, his wife, worked in the bakery as did their three children. None of the children had an interest in the business. Elizabeth V.
