I am trying to obtain a copy of an obituary. The obituary is for Jenny Lind Wood.
WOOD JENNY LIND 09/18/1856 STAMFORD d/o DAVID M. & BETSEY WOOD
I copied this off of the Delaware site from the Bloomville Mirror 1851-1858. I was wondering if there is more to this obit. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Have a great day,

Hello list,
I have hit a brick wall with my gr-gr-gr-grandfather David M. WOOD so have decided to take a break for a while on that. I am now looking for any HUMMELL's. David's son Andrew Jackson WOOD married Emaline Hummell in Delaware County. ( I believe ) I do not know where. They had at least one son in Stamford. Jesse Frank WOOD was my gr-grandfather. Jesse was born in 1862, I believe Emma may have been born in 1840.
I would love to hear from anyone with HUMMELL info.
Have a great day...
Melissa

Hello, List,
I have been struggling valiantly to get to the Ellis Island web site. I
heard a news report that there are records online.
Has anyone tried the site? If so, would you please post the url?
I have been trying ellisislandrecords.org and get an error message that says
there is no connection to the server. This could be my own system.
Hopefully yours,

In researching Daniel Hunter, I found information contained in The History
and Descendants of John and Mary Reynolds a listing of a Daniel Hunter who
marries Maria Louisa Reynolds, d. of Rev. James Reynolds of Kortright. Now,
from the information of Rev. James, he moves his family at some point to
Peach Orchard, Hector, NY. My question - was the Daniel Hunter Maria marries
the widower of either Esther Hitt, who died in 1858, or his father, who may
have been a widower of Susan Chamberlain? I'm not e
Hi Bonnie,
Can't you talk to your cousin and offer to buy the stuff? Perhaps if you
mention how much it means to you, the cousin would be willing to work with
you.
I think I might ask "what would you be willing to sell the cradle to me for?
I really hate to see it pass out of the family." You need to take a look at
it all and decide what you want, how much you are willing to give for it, and
discuss it with your cousin. You will pay far more at an auction.

Hi Marilyn! I only found one listing in the book for Nichols.
Hi all,
Under the heading of areas for new research, a list of divorce proceedings
would provide some unexpected solutions. An Indiana County published a list
and I was surprised to find many from my Adams genealogy. Coming from a
very conservative family where divorce is still frowned on, made these early
divorces all the more surprising.

Hi Michelle,
I have a book titled "The Minisink" published in 1975. On page 148 is
a picture of the Kittatinny House which sat 180 ft. above the Delaware River
in the Kittatinny Mountains. It was built in 1829 by Anthony Dutot because
of the magnificent view of the beautiful Delaware Water Gap. According to
the book, it was the first hotel in the region. Dutot sold it in 1833 to
Samuel Snyder and it had many owners after that. One of the most famous
people to stay there was Pres. Theodore Rooseve
I have a post card postmarked February 25, 1913 sent to Miss Charlotte Shaadly in Irvington, NJ from a Lillian who apparently works in a nearby boarding house. She states that she turned 16 on the 21st of January and Freeda will be 15 or 16 on April 13th. Does anyone know who Lillian is?
Thanks,

Forgive my absent-mindedness, Listers. This "senior moment" takes the prize".
It is Frederick A. Fenn who was from Harpersfield, Delaware I should
have said rather than George A. from Royalton. He, also, has a boy
under five in the 1830 Census.

Is or was there a church in Franklin that was known as "McClauds Scotch
Church" or "Mc somethings Scotch Church"? Was there or is there a church in
Bennet Hollow? Or what would be the Church nearest Bennet hollow? We are
trying to locate the cemetery where Margaret Jane Yeoman who died in 1856
and her father, Col. William Yeoman, who died in 1875 are buried in. Old
notes found by Ed Dunstan say Col William Yeoman was "buried in Franklin,

I am trying to find proof that Joanna Bassett was the daughter of

Hello:
I am very interested in the map found in the School Records but cannot get it to print without cutting off the sections I am most interested in, such as District 9 location.
Does someone have a complete copy that can be sent via snail mail or any better suggestions? Or do you know if it can be seen in the county courthouse?
Appreciate the local insite.

Hello All . . .
Index to Deaths & Marriages in the Delaware Gazette - 1819-1879 - thanks
to ... you guessed it - Linda! (more of this to come)
Also Linda has keyed in the Town of Kortright from the now completed
Town and Village Histories Section of Munsells!
Bruce and Bunny Lloyd keyed in awhile back, Chapter I from the General
County History Section. We may continue with this - there are a total of
19 chapters in this section.
Don't think I mentioned the old family photos submitted by Al Davidson.

Hello to those interested in the start of farming, the anti-rent wars, and
cooperative movements in Delaware County:
From my well-worn copy of History and Genealogy of the Milk-Milks Family,
published in 1952, (305pp), it is stated that David Milk, b. 25 May 1820 in
Jefferson, NY, moved to Delaware County in 1847. "This period of pressure for
farm lands caused the Anti-rent War. Many of the young men wnet to western
New York and some farther west. David Milk became on of the leaders in a
