Good morning:
Alfred Peck resided amidst a number of Dentons in the Whaley pond area. I
don't know if he was related to them but that is an interesting question.
I'll have to dig into that and let you know if I find anything - sure not
finding anything on Alfred of late.

Hi John,
I research Conklin's, trying to find my own family and keep anything I can

Hope this might be helpful to you.
I found this in my data:

My gg grandfather was born in Oblong, and it took me years to find out where
the dickens such a place was. Sure wish I'd known sooner! I think I looked
in every atlas out there, with no luck. Finally someone on a list (this
one?? I can't remember), answered my plea for help, and put me out of my
misery!

I believe the general rule of thumb is that if they came before
l892 it was to Castle Garden which still stands at the tip of
Manhattan known as Battery Park. After that it was Ellis Island.
Whether they came to Castle Garden or Ellis Island all the
passenger ship records are at NARA and on microfilm at
Public Libraries and FHL sites.
Hope this helps.

I know that there were Husteds in what is now Fairfield County, CT, back in
the 1600s. They were Puritans who came over from the Boston area. They
settled in Greenwich while it was part of Nieuw Amsterdam. The one that comes
to mind is Angell Husted, who married Rebecca Sherwood. It's possible that
some of them migrated northwestward into Dutches

I am descended from Dentons and Husteds.

Is anyone researching the above surnames in Poughkeepsie around 1825-1835? (Jackson -- as early as 1800)? Each of these surnames married into my Van Valins who lived there until about 1836, then moved to WI.

Listers,
There has been considerable discussion on the Oblong and the MA/NY border
dispute. They are two distinct situations. Here's how the Oblong came about
and was settled.
Prior to the definition of counties in New York, there was an assumed
border between NY and CT dating back to the days when it was New Netherland.
Then in 1683, when the Governor (Dongen) established the original counties,
he had the line surveyed and established about a mile and a half west of the
original line. This
Hi,
I'm from Stawell, Australia. I have posted this message before with an

Sorry about the long message. Can't see another way to do it.
My wife is the great-grand-daughter of Edward VAN EVERY who we believe

My gggrandfather, Alfred Peck, lived in the Whaley Lake area and was so
listed in the 1840 Federal Census. The census listing was David Denton,
Solomon Denton, Thomas Denton, Noah Denton, Susan Denton, Alfred Peck, Caleb
Denton.
Anyone have any info relating to Alfred Peck?

Depends on how many times he was married. Also, I would tend to believe the
DAR receords over the IGI because there are too many entries in the IGI from
people that do not have facts to back up their trees and just go by word of
mouth. I found an IGI reference to my family that had 3 generations born in
Montesano, Washington. FACT: The family lived there for a while but they
were actually from the Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York areas. :-)
