4. Orphan's home [0.97822]
Hello everyone! I am interested in finding out if the Wyndham Lawn Home for Children (in Lockport) is still in existence today. My grandfather, Frederick T. Devlin, was placed there for a short time in 1897. He was about a year old at the time. Is there anyone out there who might be able to tell me a something about the facility...perhaps a description? I'm just looking to add something more than statistics to my family story. Thanks very much for any tidbit! jamie in california researching: DEVLIN, R
5. Erie County Surnames [0.97822]
Hello fellow listers. Since there doesn't seem to be much activity yet, thought I'd post some of my surnames and see if there are any out there researching them. Flammer, Purdy, Reinboldt, Sugg, Preischel, Schwartz, Schmitter, Steinkirchner, Herringklee, Barten/Barton. Nearly all are from the 1800's to present day and most from the City of Buffalo with the exception of Preischel, Herringklee and Barten/Barton - East Eden, NY; Schwartz-Lancaster, NY. I appreciate all responses. Glad to give more specifi
6. German Singing Society of Buffalo, NY, 1868 [0.97822]
The following are listed as members of the German Singing Society of Buffalo (NY), the 'Liedertafel', in 1868. This was the oldest singing society in Buffalo. The names are from a composite photo of the members on page 104, "History of the Germans of Buffalo and Erie County", Reineche & Zesche, pub. 1898. There is a copy of this book in the Special Collections reference section of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Buffalo, NY. (There also were eight members un-named in the photo.) The book feat
7. Erie Co. NY Surname: EHRMAN(N) [0.97822]
My 2nd great grandfather, "Florence" Ehrman, came from Alsace Lorraine to Buffalo, Erie Co. NY before 1830, as a child. His parents were: Marie and Joseph EHRMANN. I don't know the year they immigrated, nor the name of the town, for sure, they came from - believed to have been in Lorraine France. My 2nd gr grandfather's name was spelled several ways: Florenz/Florence Ehrman(n). His 1835 marriage record found in St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Buffalo, to Magdalena Fischer has his name as "Flore

Well, to help get the ball rolling, I'll toss in my query: I'm looking for the family of a Laura Elizabeth Phillips, born either 1822 or 1826 (depending on which source you believe)
10. HAAS family tree of Buffalo and Erie County, NY [0.97822]
HAAS family tree of Buffalo and Erie County, NY My paternal grandfather (Wm. Frederick HAAS) in Buffalo drew up a family tree in 1927, showing only names, no dates or places, and no first names of spouses. The tree starts with Michael HAAS and his seven children: Katharine, Margaret, Barbara, Jacob, Elizabeth, Madeline, and Michael. Both parents and all these children were evidently (from US census data) born in Alsace/France. All or most of the above children (at least) probably emigrated to Western N
11. Andrews/Andrus, Conant, Underhill, Metcalf, Harmon [0.97822]
Dear Subscribers, I am very happy to see this list. I have spent alot of time researching Erie County lately and need some help looking for my ancestors. Chester ANDREWS was born in New York about 1792, not sure exactly where. First record found of him is Buffalo, Erie Co., NY in 1814 when he enlists in the War of 1812 as Chester ANDREWS. He appears on the census for Clarence, Erie Co. for both 1820 and 1830 with an Erastus Andrews, possibly an older brother. Records show he married Rachel CONANT in Lancas
12. Buffalo-Diener/Regenhardt [0.97822]
Hello everyone! DREWER or DIENER / REGENHARDT / ROTTGER / Rieger I am looking for a lost female sibling to my Frederick Regenhardt and sisters, Fredericke Regenhardt Rottger Rieger, and Caroline Regenhardt Rieger. In Frederick's 1895 obituary (in Niagara) a Mrs. William Drewer was listed as his sibling living in Buffalo. However, I have never found a William Drewer or a wife. I do have a hint of information that leads me to believe that somehow DIENER was transformed into DREWER for the obit. Do
