2. Re: (no subject)--Obits [1]
Marcena: To answer your question, no. I live in North Carolina but an internet friend in Rochester agreed to help me get 1900 obit info available to the list. She copies the microfilm and mails the copies to me to type and post to the list. I reimburse her copy costs and postage. It takes her about 4 hours to copy one month of obits, and copies and postage cost me about $8 for one month. I am sending a copy to Monroe Co. This is one time sweep through the affected counties. Delete if you already seen this on other NY lists. SAMPUBCO moved to new address and it's a new home all it's own. new home: http://www.sampubco.com You will need to bookmark this site because the search engines (altavista, dogpile, snap, etc) will not update their directories for 4 to 8 weeks or longer. Subject: Fwd: Help keep Iowa records open. In a message dated 1/25/00 3:35:01 PM, Pmauer writes: The State of Iowa is considering closing their records to the public. This has already been done in the State of Illinois where you have to rely on someone in the courthouse to look things up for you for a fee of $2.00 and if you want a copy, that is $8.00 more. Many of the people from the East went to Iowa and you may need to obtain some of their records, if not now, in the future. Even if you are not

9. Re: 1910 Rochester EDs [1]
Actually, you ought to contact the local history section of the Rochester Public Library. Perhaps if you have the ward, etc., you can nail down the enumeration district. I'd give that a shot before searching line for line if I were you. The mere fact that the census was neither soundexed nor mirocoded does not necessarily mean it is impossible to locate the correct enumeration district. The address which you have in hand may be just the link you need to narrow your search. Charles ----- Original Message -

14. 1874 autograph book [1]
Hello, I am new to this list. The reason I joined is because I have an autograph book that I bought from an antique store in Napa CA a little over a year ago. This book belonged to a young girl named Ella...I am not sure what her last name is. Most of the signatures in the book, say Rochester NY next to them. This book has dates from 1874 to 1881. I will list the names included in the book. Some of her friends just signed it, and others wrote little poems or drew pictures with their names. I would l

19. Martha RANNEY/David B. SMALLEY [1]
Hi Listers! The never-ending search for dead people continues! I'm looking for a possible link between Martha RANNEY (RANEY, RANNA) and David B. SMALLEY. They were located in the 1st Ward, City of Rochester in the 1830 census and most likely were newly married. Martha was born about 1809, and David B. about 1807. Martha RANNEY may have been the daughter of Roderick RANNEY and Sally DANFORTH, and I believe she died 1837-40 in the Mendon/Honeoye Falls area of Monroe County, although I cannot find an
