7. william Drake-1880 Webster,NY [0.982777]
I am trying to find out information on my wifes 3rd Great Grandfather Francis Borden who died in 1887 in Webster, New York. I found Francis and his wife Maria(Wentworth)Borden on the 1880 census living with William Drake age 60 and his wife Maria age 50. This is first that we knew that Francis and Maria had a daughter named Maria. I have written to various cemeteries in Webster trying to find where Francis and Maria are buried with no luck. I am wondering if anyone might be researching the Drake surname

DAR is Daughters of the American Revolution. They were sometimes snooty women who could prove descent from someone who furthered the cause of Liberty; usually a soldier, but sometimes a member of a state legislature or a merchant who supplied Washington's troops at a discount or for free. They didn't accept black people for quite a while; I don't know if they do today. Before 1970 or so their research standards were lax, too. If you were white, could show up sober to afternoon meetings and had clean fingern
