I'm in Rochester, also researching Davis. I don't have info about your specific question, but would like to talk to you about possible connection.
My grandmother's sister, May Flossie Rees, married a Victor Davis in 1911. I believe Victor had a brother Arthur who was a 'sweetheart' of my grandmother, Marceline Rees.
New York Death Certificates began in 1880 I believe and that document would
tell you where she is buried.

Write to the following:
Rochester Records Management Office, 414 Andrews Street, Rochester, New
York, or you can telephone them for general information. They have marriage
records for the years 1876-1907. I forget now what the fee for reproduction
of the records was, but I think I sent $10.00 and asked that they invoice me
for the difference if it was more. Can't recall what the outcome in terms of
dollars was, but I did get the records I was seeking as extractions.
Naturally, of they weren't actually mar
I'm not researching the line but I do know that there's a Beedle Rd. in

This is the symbol of the Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias, an
international, non-sectarian, fraternal order founded in Washington, DC
in 1864. The F, C and B stand for Friendship, Charity and Benevolence,
respectively.

Hi all - I live in the Detroit, MI area and will be attending a conference
in NYC in a couple of weeks. Some of my ancestors (McElgunn, McGunn) came
from Ireland (Fermanagh) and settled in Greece, NY for a couple of years c.
1835 before moving on to Michigan in the mid 1840s. Is there anywhere (or
which are the best places) in Manhattan to do some research for that area
for that time period? Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Thankyou!
Death certificate often gives name and address of the person who provided
the personal info on the death certificate--often the next of kin.

..... Herbert SAUNDERS, a Civil War Veteran who died in 1926, he is shown as

Try the following Website for a listing of the Masonic Lodges in the USA.
The F and A.M. stands for Free and Accepted Masons. I was able to get copies
of my grand uncles application papers from his Lodge.

What time period are you searching for Myer? By coincidence, I copied an obit
today of a Katherine Myer who died in 1911. Her address is given as 703 or
705 (I can't read the number) Hudson Ave. She was 75 years old. She left 7
children: Mrs. Katherine Schlicker, Mrs Michael Stevens, Fred, Joseph,
Charles, John and Frank; also 12 grandchildren who are not named.
I copied it because I'm wondering if she is connected to my grandmother's
family. Please let me know if this could have any connectio

Siblings? Anything would be helpful.

There must have been a lot of Presbyterians in the area because there were
at least three other Presbyterian churches within a few blocks of Plymouth.
The others were Third, Central, and Brick. My first year at Rochester
Institute of Technology was 1967-1968, the last year before RIT moved to its
current campus in Henrietta. I think all three churches were active then
but that none of them is still a Presbyterian Church. Central Presbyterian
Church is now the Hochstein School of Music.

Hi Dick,
They have 'The Union & Advertiser' on microfilm in the new Bausch & Lomb
Public Library Building, South Avenue, Rochester, N.Y. 14604 opposite the
Rundel Library. I don't know the starting date for this newspaper but when
I visited there in September I copied a page dated May 18, 1864.
The tel.no. for the Rochester Public Library is (716) 428-7300 and they
could no doubt put you through to the Newspaper Library, which is staffed by
two charming and very helpful young ladies.
Good hunting.

For those of you who are new:
There is a Monroe County, NY GenWeb site, and it has LOTS of good information, including searchable Monroe County cemeteries , some local history info & maps, and many links, including some neighboring counties. Some of the questions posted here might be answered by a visit to the site.

Only the surname is the same, but I thought I'd relay this message on to you
from the jewish genealogy group. Maybe there is an as of yet undiscovered
link here.

Hi Listers,
Regarding German immigrants...
My research usually shows that they were Lutherans in this country. Folks in
Rochester? Can we help Peter with old Lutheran Churches in your city? Churh

Good Luck in your search.
