Hello,
Ira Woodford MARTIN (son of Ira W. Martin) was born 1843, VT, married Harriet 'Hattie' Elizabeth WEEKS of Webster, NY and settled at 85 Goodman St., Rochester. Ira and Harriet raised five children in Webster/Rochester including:
1. Harriet MARTIN;
2. Paula J. MARTIN;
3. Cora Belle MARTIN, b. 1869 Webster NY;
4. Rachel Weeks MARTIN, b 1877 NY;
5. Ira 'Ford' Woodford MARTIN Jr. b 1877, NY.
I am looking for the birth family of Ira Woodford MARTIN (b. 1843 VT) as Ira is my gggrandfather.
Yesterday I found out that my ggggrandmother was actually born in
Rochester, not immigrated from Ireland as I thought. The document I found
places her birth at around 1827. Would anyone know what Catholics did in
Rochester before St. Patrick's Cathedral was built in 1833? I'm trying to
see if I can find a baptismal record somewhere...
TIA
Mary
Charles,
St. Patrick's was torn down around 1930. See the Monroe Co.
GenWeb page for details and location of the records.
The records have been microfilmed and are available at Nazareth

Hi!
I just visited the Livingston County, NY GenExchange and found a great many
things there. Several of the biographies they have online matched my
surnames. They are adding bio's for the town of Conesus, plus you are able
to enter your own data and leave your email address for others researching
the same names to contact you. I also subscribed to their list, besides
being able to reach other researchers, the list owner periodically announces
new additions to the county.
I've listed below the address

Hi,
Recently discovered I have a GG Aunt and Uncle buried in Parma Corners
Cemetery. It is located on Hilton Parma Corners Rd. This appears to be west
of Rochester NY. Their name is Albert Mort d.1939 and Carrie Mort d. 1938. I
have been unable to locate a phone # for this cemetery or a Historical
Society. Is anyone familiar with this area? I did find that it was also
known as Gore Cemetery.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Sandy
Unless the Webster Cemetery Records were checked along with reading the tombstone inscriptions, you cannot be sure he is not buried there without a tombstone. meg

Yes, the democrat & Chronicle has a search engine on their site.
Go to search, put in "time capsule," and then pick the first selection (if I
remember correctly).
Otherwise go to the URL http://www.rochestertimecapsule.com/,
you will get to the Time Capsule itself.
Thanks for sharing it with us!

These as well as other church records are also available through LDS. The
films are permanently located at the Westfall Road FHC for anyone in the
Rochester area and I would expect could be borrowed at your local FHC as
well. They have most of the churches in the diocese up to about 1908.
