Where did you get the idea that a birth or marriage certificate costs $122? A New York State genealogical copy of a vital record costs $22, including a three-year search. A search of additional years can increase the cost of the certificate, with $122 being the cost of a search of 41 to 50 years. You appear to know the year of the birth and the year of the marriage, so the cost of each certificate would be $22.
