1. [NYSTEUBE-L] people of the town of Howard 1850 [1]
Hi everyone, I have abstracted the 1850 census for the Town of Howard, Steuben Co. and now I am looking for information on any or all of those people to include in a book. I have taken information from wills, cemetery records, bible records and family records, etc. trying to add to the families of 1850. If anyone out there are researching the people of the Town of Howard and would like their families included in the book, I would love to hear from you. Just be sure your family was living there in

6. [NYSTEUBE] Old County Home [1]
I'm currently in Bath doing some research and found a burial reference for one relative that cited the County Home Cemetery. He died in 1894, but there were other burials listed up through at least the 1930s that had taken place there as well. The question is, what became of the county home and how can I find the cemetery, assuming it even still exists? I'm told the home, at least as a functioning entity, is no longer around. 11. RE: [NYSTEUBE-L] War of 1812 rosters [1]
There is a set of books (around 4 volumes as I recall) that list the War of 1812 soldiers. They should be in any library with a large genealogical collection. You can also send to the National Archives and get the military service record for Amos Smith. There might, of course, have been more than one soldier from NY named Amos Smith. Abstracts of 1812 pension files are also available on microfilm. -----Original Message----- From: JudyKCski@aol.com [mailto:JudyKCski@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, August 07, 1

14. [NYSTEUBE-L] War of 1812 Rosters [1]
Judy, Have you checked the book "Index of Awards Soldiers of The War of 1812" by the New York Adjutant General's Office? My ancestor Amaziah Westcott is in it and he died down in Crawford County, PA. I found it out in the Denver Public Library several years ago when we lived out there. In the introduction there is a letter printed from Francis J. Higgins Brigadier General, NYARNC The Adjutant General dated March, 1969. Your ancestor may have applied for a payment and if so he would be listed in this b

19. [NYSTEUBE-L] War of 1812 rosters [1]
I would like to know if someone could tell me what NY group, town or area any Amos SMITH (who was b. ca. 1770-1780) shows up with in a War of 1812 roster -- I have checked out some of the on-line sites but many area's are lacking. My newest tidbid of information is from a biography of his granddaughter's husband (George Kelly of Steuben Co., NY) which states that Amos Smith served in the War of 1812. - I realize that this is a stab in the dark - but as after almost 19 years of looking for my 'stuck' S

23. [NYSTEUBE] County Home [1]
Thanks to all for the replies concerning the location of the county home cemetery. Even after checking with Marion in the county historian's office and reading all the suggestions from you all, I still wasn't able to find any physical evidence of the cemetery. It's either too overgrown or built up. We can all be thankful that there are good records in the county historian's office regarding the burials there. Without those records I never would have even known there was such a place. Kudos to Marion for h
