My husbands ggranparents were William Bettis and Sarah Patridge(sp). They
had eleven children and one was William b Mar 18,1862. I don't know if
Adams Co. is where this Bettis line came from, but they did come from Ohio,

In 1801 my ancestor received a federal land patent by a military warrant
located in the Virgina Military District "on the waters of the Cherry fork of
Brush Creek", which I find to be in Adams County. The patent contains a
metes and bounds description of 200 acres and reference to two other abutting
numbered surveys. This area was not surveyed by the rectangular system,
hence, no section, township and range are in the land description. Are

My reprint atlases of Clermont,and Brown Co show military surveys.
I don't think my Adams Co does, but [1] maybe you adjoin Brown Co,,or [2]
from the names on the Adams Co atlas,or [3] what ever method modern
surveyors use.
Also,remember there are both Ohio and Scioto Brush creeks in Adams.
