Hi List,
I am really stuck. I am looking for a Samuel Matthews who was born about
1823 in Penn. but married Lydia Urie in Ashland Co. in 1851. I find this
information on a film index by Nellie M. Raber found at the LDS in my area.
I can find them in all the cenus after that but I can't find any information
on him before the marriage. I have been looking for years. He doesn't seem
to be in the Ashland area in 1850 although he marries Lydia in Jan of 51.
Does anyone know if the original records for that

I am interesting in finding out something about the Hughes Meeting House in Wayne or Ashland Co,OH. My descendent Jacob Steele is burried in the Meng Cemetary in Ashland Co,OH. Because he died in 1837 his will is filed in Wayne Co,OH because Ashland was not formed yet. Now in his will he mentions that he wanted to be buried in the Hughes Meeting House burial grounds. Can anyone tell me about the Hughes meeting house and how it connects to the the Meng Cem. Is it the same and what was the Meeting house?
