Thanks for this information. My son's Evans family comes from this part of Brown County, and I was glad to read of the history you posted. It certainly adds to the information I have to know how things worked in the early years when Benjamin Evans and his wife Mary, lived in Ripley. Have you run acrossed any Hughes family? They are connected to the Bingaman, Coon, Wright and Crawford families of Brown Co. They came from VA about 1831. Is there anyone that you know of that does research in that area? Pat in CA

Mrs. Gertrude Marguerite Aubry Evans passed away 15 August 2004 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 95.
