Many of us have ancestors that came from Butler Co., OH. An excellent
research site for Butler Co., OH and surrounding counties is:

For those who have not yet seen this site for Land Records:

Thanks, Karen. I had the Butler County vital records link on the Butler Co
page updated, but the link for vital records of all of Ohio was still their
previous URL. Appreciate your calling that to my attention!

In response to my post a few days ago about Rootsweb's financial "crisis" and
Rootsweb's value to us there have been many inquiries about how to "connect"
with Rootsweb. Rather than trying to continue to reply personally and
individually to these inquiries here's the site to obtain this Rootsweb
"subscription/contribution" information:

After sending out the alarm, I told my husband. Who said it didn't sound
right since it wasn't in the news papers. But I seldom hear what congress is
considering. I wasn't on the net when it happened if it was a scam in 1997.
Sorry if it is a false alarm. Anyone know the FCC site?

Louise, Tthanks for your note.
I only have one connection to the Lytle family. But our ties to it have
caused us to carry the name down through the generations. I have alot of
Lytle information. There is also a Lytle geneology site at
http://www.geocities.com/~lytle/
You can also look up census, cemetery, marriage info for the Miami Valley
at:
Sorry but I tried the address after giving it to you and gave it wrong.
The correct address is www2.eos.net/dajend/swbcgs.html.
Click on local resources and repositories and then click the Butler
County record center and archives. All the info is listed there.
Hope this helps

I know of no record of a Cumberland, however it does not mean it doesn't
exist. As for Woods, it was also know at one time as Woods Station because
of the train stopping there, it can still be found on Butler County maps in
Rely Twp. The roads that lead to there are: Stillwell-Beckett Rd.,
Pierson Rd., Law Rd., and Elliot Rd. It is in the township section # 12.
Hope this helps. If I ever come across a Cumberland I will post it.

In a message to the list, Donny Perry notes he is looking for parents of
Mary McCoy. I also am interested in the McCoy families in Butler Co -
early l800's. Alex McCoy came to Butler Co early l800's with
father-in-law, Mr. Long. Some of his children later moved to Frankfort Co
IN. I would love any info on this family. Sue Kruse, Gilroy CA

I have a booklet that lists all present places and many past places of the
following counties of Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton,
Gallia, Hamilton, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton,
Warren. Tell me a county and a place and I will try to give you an
approximate location.

The Butler County OHGenWeb page is updated ... and is quite a bit smaller now
than it was. Hopefully, it will be faster to load now. If anyone finds
linking
mistakes, please let me know.
Also, if anyone knows HTML and is interested in working on indexing the
surnames and queries that are being posted to the page, I would like to have a
co-partner (is that the word?) to help maintain the site.
Thanks!

Gerry,
I know of no address to write to in Shandon. However, if you would contact
Valerie Elliot at the Smith Library of Regional History in Oxford, she
should be able to tell you who to contact and if not I am sure they have a
copy of this book and the information of how to obtain additional copies
would be in it. The library is located at 15 S. College Ave., Oxford, OH
45056-1754. She can be reached at 513/523-3035 during the following hours:
M-F 10-2 & 1-5 , Thurs. 6-9, and Sat. 10-1.

This is a very helpful web site, listing all states and counties and some
links to foreign countries.
Tells where to write for any type of vital statistic and how much it costs.
Updated frequently.

Gary,
Thank you for the information on the Littell surname. I will check out
the Miami Valley website. Did not know about it. My Littells went to
Dearborn Co. IN by 1820 but some may have stayed in Ohio.
Happy Holidays,
Louise in MI
