Hi:
Please pass this along to anyone that may be interested in Civil War and Jefferson County's part in it:
Lester Horwitz, author of "The Longest Raid of the Civil War" which traces the raid into OH, IN and KY is writing a new sequel "After the Raid". He is seeking our help in the following areas:
He is gathering stories and the following are the guidelines--

Robert Winston MYERS was born in Caroll Co., OH April 22, 1822, according to his Civil War pension application. I understand that Carroll County was formed from 5 other counties in 1832, so I will also look in those counties. What I would like to know is what MYERS were living in Carroll County when it was formed? I do not have Robert's parents names or the names of any siblings. He married Sarah ANDERSON September 16, 1841 in Washington Co. (she was from Wood Co, WV). They had the following children:
Would the person who left the comments about having a newspaper clipping about Greenhill Cem. on imagestation please email me.
I plan to start a clean up project of this cemetery and need all the info I can get on the cemetery.

My wonderful cousin, Marcia Croye of Tempe, AZ, thinks I can accomplish
anything on the computer. She has given me another challenge.
On a trip to Toronto, Ohio, she met a minister, Rev. Robert Hanze. He told
her that his grandfather was an R. L. Wilson of Carroll Co. and wondered if he
was related to the Wilson family that Marcia was researching. So, since Marcia
does not do online anything, I get the job.
In the Carroll Co. birth book I found that R. L. Wilson and Lily May Hewitt
of Malven had a

Hello - I need to find out if there was ever a town called Somerset
in Carroll County...possibly in or near Perry or Rose Township. Is
there a list of Ghost towns for Carroll County anywhere online?
Thank you,
Karen Borton
Hi,
I saw a listing of jrprestondl@aol.com that was returned. Maybe he is known
on our newsgroup. I am looking for additional information on Laura BEAMER
1886-1950 who married Thomas Blazer 1878-1941. I have the names of the children
as: Drusilla; Robert and Martha. The information is not very up to date on the
children, etc. I am gathering information on the Blazer's of Carroll Co. I
would appreciate any help.
I also have Sheets in my line. I am looking for information on Elizabeth

Good morning list!
This morning I compared the census for 1840, 1850 and 1860, Carroll County,
OH on Ancestry. (I know in the past that I also checked the film for the
1850 Carroll County census.)
In 1840 Townships are listed for:
Augusta, Brown, Carrollton, Center, East, Fox Goshen, Harlem Springs,
Harrison, Lee, London, Malvern, Monroe, New Harrison, Orange, Pekin Village,
Perry, Rose, Union and Washington.
The census for the town of Carrollton was 8 pages and the total population
was 698.
The census
Cemetery photos by Jean Scarlott are now on the Carroll Co. Chapter OGS
page. Photos are gradually being added to the page as time allows. My book
on the Levi TOPE family will soon be completed and more time will be
available to add to the OGS page.

I've got three James BOOTHs that are tormenting me.
First:
James BOOTH, son of Isaac BOOTH and Leah ARBUCKLE.
Brother to Hannah [b.1827]m. Joseph TRIPP, and Joseph BOOTH [b.1829]m. Agnes WORKMAN and Mary McDONALD. I have not found James' birth year, but 1820s-1830s is my guess.
Second:
James BOOTH [b. 1833] m. to Sarah Unknown [b. 1841 in OH]. Children are: Nancy J. [b. 1859], Mary A. B. [b. 1862], and Joseph G. [b. 1864].

Does anyone have a contact person for interment records for this church's
cemetery? I have a great-grandmother who may be buried there although she
would have an unmarked grave if she is there. My g-grandfather William T.

Jewell was his second wife and should be buried there but is not listed in
the transcription of that cemetery. I have a date of death of March 10,
1924 from my grandfather's written records but the Ohio Historic

This rate increase was passed by the state, not our local recorders office.

This is such a great project. My hat's off to you for doing it. I
see you doing so much good work, so selfishly for others, I can't
believe you haven't already earned that halo!!
If I lived closer I would certainly come out and help you.

Karen, I think you may be after the Somerset that is about 7 miles from Rose
twp. The town is in Tuscarawas Co. It still exists. Keep in mind that
Carroll was formed from Tuscarawas Co as well as the other four surrounding
counties, Stark, Columbiana, Jefferson, and Harrison.

I was in Colorado doing research and found copies of marriage records at
the Denver Public Library. The Denver Library is in downtown Denver, next door
to the Historical Society and a couple of blocks from the State Archives.
The collections are terrific and well worth a look or a stop of a couple of
days. Besides Colorado the Library has a heavy collection of Oklahoma and New
Mexico.
Below is what I found at the Denver Public
