Hello everyone. I ran across this the other day and thought it looked
interesting. Someone has the 1890 Civil War census available for Champaign
county.
Here is the link if you want to check it out:

Also, if you need death certificates, this person is offering to look some
up:

Hello.
Have you checked with Clark County Genealogical Society about this? I am
going by the methods we use here in Champaign County to try to find death
dates prior to 1865, but below are some of the resources we use to try to
determine death dates:
- Cemetery records (we have books for the whole county and so I have
checked the indexes of those to look for a burial place)
- Wills (did he have a will or any other court records?)
- Newspaper Abstracts or obituaries indexed (we have a number of book
You are so right, Susan. I would much rather make a donation to a genealogy
society.

Hello.
I wanted to remind everyone that some of the records are available at
local libraries - always remember to check there. Here at Champaign
County Library we have the 1890 Veterans and Widows Census on microfilm
for Champaign/Auglaize/Clark;Darke/Greene/and Hardin counties. We will do
look ups for people and only ask that the cost of copies and postage is
paid.
As for the death records, the price offered on ebay is cheaper than going
through the Ohio Historical society, but they have the index on l

Hello,
I'm researching my great grandfather, Natale (Charlie)
Andreoni. One of the few documents I have on him is a
short notice that was published in the town paper (St.
Marys, Ohio) about a year after his death.
Natale was born in Italy. The notice says that "he was
naturalized in probate court of Champaign county in
1898."
Was this normal for the time? I know naturalization
was federalized in the early 1900s. Would a
naturalization record (and application) exist still?
Where and how could I get a copy

Some of these items are too valuable to risk being totally in the hands of
vendors.
Lets get these into the hands of the non-profit groups where ALL can access
them.
If the CCGS needs a cash contribution to purchase Champaign Co. items,
please email me directly.

Gloria,
I have a fellow in Clark Co, John PETTY, and he died somewhere in between
available sources as nearly as I can tell. I am at a disadvantage here because
I am in TX and some of my notes are in OH but I seem to recall that he was
in the 1850 census but not thereafter. Since death records were not kept
until after 1860 I think, what recourse do we have in finding a death date for a
person in no man's land of that ten year period. do you have any
suggestions for me to research. I have
This may not help you, but this strategy has helped me with some cases.
Follow the children as much as you can. Sometimes they appear in county
histories that recount their family history. If they stayed in Ohio, there
are lots of Ohio histories available online ( See
http://www.heritagepursuit.com, or if your library has a subscription to
HeritageQuest try that). Also, obituaries of children and siblings sometimes
give information on parents or siblings. Have you looked on Sandy Koscak's
website http://fre
Mary, Please e-mail me. Sarah Safely Snodgrass was my great great great
grandmother. I would like to share & exchange info with you. Thanks.
